Again they stood and ground their bodies together, gently but firmly exploring each other.

“All good things must end, they say. It’s a shame.” She whispered tensely to his ear and then kissed his cheek.

He turned his head and found her lips with his. He saw her eyes blink wide open, perhaps with fear, perhaps with … well he did not know. He held her tight, moving his hips with a familiar thrust that pressed his cock against her mound and then slide off to the side and her tender flanks.

They finished the drinks and took the taxi ride back to the hotel. She allowed him another kiss in the taxi and his hand tried to pry apart tightly closed thighs.

She opened a little bit. His hand knifed between nylon thighs and then to the bare flesh above. He came close to her panties, but she closed tight against further progress. She didn’t admonish him.

“I don’t think we should go there.” She looked directly into his eyes, still clamped down on the hand under her dress. But she was still smiling.

And then the taxi pulled up in the brilliant light of the hotel canopy.

She yawned in the elevator. “I’m out of practice. Not used to these big city late nights.”

He squeezed her waist, his mood turned down thinking of this coming to an end.

“Did you tell him that you met me?”

She was silent, looking at her toes. She felt a little embarrassed. She could have lied.

“No.” She said quietly.

“Twenty-fifth floor.”

He pushed the button.

“Did you? Did you tell Cindy?”

“No. Didn’t come up.” He grinned the bad boy grin she remembered all these years.

She bit back her smile.

At the door of her room she looked up, waiting for his lips. The door unlocked and he opened it for her. She didn’t invite him in.

“I won’t pretend it hasn’t been nice, Robby, because it has been very nice. I’m glad we met. I’m even glad we are snowed in. And that’s the god’s truth. And thank you for taking me dancing; that was wonderful!”

“But… ?” He searched for the words to get himself invited for the night, or even a few minutes more.

She pressed a finger to his lips. “Don’t spoil it.”

She went up on tiptoes and kissed him sweetly on the lips.

And slipped inside the door. She stood there in the dark for long moments. Silent. She knew it was the right thing. Of course.

Slowly she walked to the bathroom along the windows looking out over a snowstorm-blanketed city. She used the bathroom and then stood with the moist panties crumpled in her hand.

To that braless lady in the mirror she said aloud:
