Twilight had a warm shower, and when she came back, Rihannon was already asleep in Echo’s bed.
She smiled and covered her, then she cleaned up and dressed warmly, sitting in her bed.
Sleep didn’t visit her eyes at all, so she took one of her books to read.
She had barely read two paragraphs when Slade and his new girl invaded her head.
She spaced out completely, feeling so inferior.
The girl was prettier with her dark hair and brows. Even her outfit was elegant like a princess’s. Comparing herself to the beauty would be stupid.
Slade even came with her to the swimming hole. Maybe he has had a girlfriend after all. It’d be insane to be single with that face.
She suddenly started looking for her phone, but then she remembered Slade threw it away at the temple after the rainwater spoilt it, and her card is even with him.
She dropped her book and buried her face in her knees, backing the wall.
She can’t call Grandpa Cedric without the phone, and the transport fare to his estate is much. She doesn’t even have a penny with her.
Maybe if she makes enough from her party time gig, she’d be able to visit him, and if she doesn’t get any part-time job, she’d definitely go to Slade and beg him to kill her like Greg said.
She sniffled, adjusting on a spot as her greasy hair got stuck to her skin.
She can’t even afford another bottle of hair wash.
The only thing affordable for her right now is tears and death.

Slade’s glasses are on, and he’s currently reading through a journal on his laptop. He has a class to take tomorrow.
His fingers were skillfully hitting the buttons, and he didn’t look up till someone sat in front of him.
The new girl.
She rested her elbows on the table, face-palming herself as she stared at him with a genuine smile, her dark hair glossing ethereally.
When Slade didn’t look up at her, she moved her head closer to him, but there’s still no reaction from him.
She stretched her hand forward, poking his forehead with her pointer finger.
“What?” His deep voice came finally, though his eyes are still down.
“I dunno when this time will come again, so you should at least communicate with me” she pouted.
“There’s enough food on the bedstand” he replied dryly.
“It’s not about food, it’s about Twilight. You didn’t let me speak to her when i saw her in the woods earlier. Those mean girls pushed her into the pool and she was embarrassed, but you didn’t teach them a lesson. Aren’t you being too much?” She complained.
“When did minding my business become too much?” He replied, finally looking up.
“You’re not the type to mind your business, and she’s not just anyone. She’s yours, and she’s the first human I got comfortable with.
I was able to shift to my human form after so many years cos she carried me. Her aura is so warm and I love being in her arms. Tomorrow, let me follow you to class and pay those mean girls back in their own coin” She persuaded.
“No, in capital letters” Slade replied sternly.
“Why? Fine…she talked too much but you should know she’s softhearted and kind. Don’t you want her fingers on your brows again? Or is it because of the consequences?” She said.
“What consequences?” Slade raised his brows.
“The myth says the more time you spend with her without killing her, the more your remaining lifetime will be drained” she said.
“Go back” he immediately replied.
“Come on… Sladie. Let me follow you to class tomorrow and teach her oppressors some lessons” she frowned cutely.
“You’re a cat, not a dog. Where is the aggressiveness coming from?” Slade smirked.
“I get aggressive if someone hurts my person in my presence. Twilight is my favorite person” She replied.
“Enough, go back to your original form” he glared.
“Mean” she muttered, standing and entering the bathroom.
