HER HEARTLESS MONSTER : CHAPTER 31 – 40
DOWNTOWN, GREG’S COTTAGE*
The sound of the small broomstick as it journeyed in circles inside the herbal medicine cup could be heard as Greg made a tonic.
There are several batches of it on the table already, and they’re all going out for distribution today.
He needs to sell as much as he can to pay Owen’s hospital bills this week and also send some to Twilight.
He breathed out when he noticed he still has to sieve the tonic.
He stood and held his hurting back as he walked to an old cupboard where he took the seive from.
“Anybody here?” A harsh voice said from outside, and he quickly rushed to the door.
He opened it to meet two government officials standing there.
“What the fûck! Wear glasses man! Your eyes!” They panicked.
Greg quickly got his black shades from his pocket and put it on.
“Why aren’t you packing yet?” The first one asked with a scowl.
“What do you mean pack? This is my cottage” Greg replied.
“Haven’t you been coming out? The government announced redevelopment on this area since a month ago, and it’s finally happening tomorrow. Can’t you see your neighbors leaving their houses already?” The second one glared.
“No but I built this cottage with my own money… I…
“With your own money, but it’s on the government’s land, so you either pack and go before tomorrow, or your properties gets destroyed when the tractors arrive” they cut him off and left him standing.
Greg held the doorframe, swallowing.
“But it’s my cottage…my house…” He muttered.

GRANDPA CEDRIC’S ESTATE*
“Look who I have here!” The cheerful old man grinned when Slade entered the threshold.
He’s sitting at the patio with a big mug of coffee and an unopened bottle of tequila on the table.
He stood to give Slade a hug, and Slade barely hugged him back.
“It’s been a week. You can’t run away from your parents and run away from here too…you promised” Grandpa Cedric said as they settled down together.
“When was that?” Slade asked, opening the tequila and pouring himself some cold coffee before diluting it.
He had a drink, and Grandpa Cedric smiled.
“I love seeing you drinking your dilutions like this” he said.
“Why am I here?” Slade faced him.
“You mean I can’t call my grandson to my estate for a drink?” Cedric said.
“It was specific, and I’m smart enough to catch on” Slade raised his brows.
“You have to kill the girl” Cedric finally spoke, and Slade dropped his cup.
“Knew it” he muttered.
“You don’t blink before killing, so I wonder what’s holding you back this time. Stella your mother kept saying you’ve met her, and i know she doesn’t say wrong” Cedric said carefully.
“How’s she doing? Stella” Slade asked.
“If you’re curious, you should visit the island yourself” Cedric replied, and Slade stood.
“I’m done here” he said and started walking out.
“You know your rival can’t kill her before you, right? Or are you feeling pity for her? It’s not your fault that she was born to be a slave to your curse.
It’s not your fault that she was born to create balance between you and your rival” Grandpa Cedric stood, and Slade stopped, turning back with a smirk.
“Pity? I’ve never felt that before, never tasted it, never breathed it in my fuçking nose. She’ll die, but after I toy with her to my satisfaction… she’s fun to play with” he said and finally left.
Grandpa Cedric sat back with a huff, and Timothy came out from behind the door where he has been hiding.
“He never listens, not even to me” Cedric grunted.
“He’s knowingly doing this to see me go crazy, and it’s definitely working cos I’m going crazy” Timothy said, sitting down too.
“Give it some time and don’t show your anxiousness. He’ll eventually come around.. he’s my grandson after all” Grandpa Cedric grunted again.
