“You miss your friend right? Take me as him”. Emperor Damien said moving closer to her as she blinked in puzzlement, then a knock came on the door and Jade went to answer it, opening it she saw the forbidden sword floating on the air and her eyes widened, looking all bloody like it just finished a killing spree.
The Emperor’s sharp gaze scanned the sword and it had completely changed from what it was earlier, it wasn’t even as shiny gold as it was earlier, but now, cause of the blood attached to it, the sword looked more like a demonic weapon than an heavenly sword it was earlier.
‘It killed more people’. The Emperor thought with widened eyes before facing Jade.
“Step away from it, now!”. The Emperor said rushing to her but before he could get to her, the sword already ran straight into Jade’s body and she fell unconscious on the ground.
“Jade!”. Emperor Damien called tapping her face softly…

**NEXT MORNING**
Kai was running down the field after his morning shower when grandma heard the cry from the corner, he blinked as he changed his direction to where the voice came from only for him to see Asa sitting on the floor sobbing quietly.
“What’s the problem?”. Kai asked walking closer to her and Asa sniffed in before getting up from the floor.
“You wouldn’t understand. Your mum isn’t a mistress anyway”. Asa replied wiping her tears off as she avoided his gaze.
“My mum isn’t a mistress I get that, but she’s a widow and not happy compared to many other mistresses”. Kai replied and Asa blinked finally staring at him.
“Sorry about that”. She mumbled looking away.
“You shouldn’t be. I just told you so you know not only your mum goes through hard times–
“She doesn’t, if she was she would have gotten herself married honorably and not dragging another woman’s husband.
I’m just worried about myself and my sister also. The contest was my only chance, if i had won or even became a concubine, Nazia would be respected and get proposals from alot of suitors, but–i had to fail even before trying to remove the sword. Who would want to marry a mistress’s daughter?
Not to mention not just any mistress’s daughter but also someone rejected by the Emperor himseld.
I’ll be avoided like a plague, the only proposals i’ll ever get is to become on of those greedy officials mistresses, i’ll have to live the same life my mother lived and my sister too.
Life can’t be this cruel to me”. Asa said swallowing back her tears and Kai only sighed deeply staring at her.
“If you care so much about your suitor’s status then surely you’ll end up as a wealthy man’s mistress and get disrespected all the time by his wife and everyone around”. Kai said and Asa gave him a puzzled look.
“What do you mean by what you said?”. Asa asked moving closer to Kai and Kai only shook his head.
“Just forget what I said. And don’t worry about you ending up as someone’s mistress, you’ll surely find a great someone you sees you as wife worthy”. Kai said.
“Really? I will? How sure are you?”. Asa asked holding his muscular arm and Kai stared at the contact for a while before clearing his throat and Asa immediately let go of him realizing.
“I’m sorry”. She mumbled and Kai nodded slowly.
“You proved to everyone during the contest that you were beauty with brains.
Of course they’ll know your worth and wish to keep you”. Kai said and Asa nodded, looking away as she touched her face softly.
“I am beautiful. Plus my white flawless skin is to die for, ofcourse I’m brainy also and can cook which makes a huge wife materials”. Asa said smiling slowly and Kai only stared at her blinking profusely, then she faced him.
“Even you called me beautiful. Then why should i cry for a husband? He should be the one begging to wed me, I’m no one’s pushover but everyone’s dream girl.
I should have embraced my worth right from the start. How dare Mina look down on me”. Asa scoffed.
“No, I didn’t mean you should act big once you receive a proposal cause of your exotic worth, but Instead just calm and listen to what they have to offer without checking out their class….
“Why won’t I check that? Ofcourse he must be okay before thinking of proposing to me? How come you’re so silly”. Asa rolled eyes before walking away and Kai’s shocked gaze followed her.
“Silly? Yes. I’m really silly for making her know her worth”. Kai scoffed before walking to his chamber.
