“Mother! Mother! I got us meat!!”. Bad screamed running into their tiny hurt and her mother jumped out of the bed running happily to hug her tightly.
She looked completely different and tattered from her former self. Her skin completely dusty and her dress looked like it was made with rags.
“That’s my girl! Let’s go sell it at the boarder, then we’ll use the money we gain from it to travel to my brother’s place, i wrote to him and he’s ready to receive us”. Mistress Soni said and Bae smiled widely. Mistress Soni looked older than her age mostly because of their misfortunes.
“You’re going to leave our husband just like that Soni?! Where was your brother when our lord gave us all the great standard of living—
“Yeri just keep quiet okay! Lani was his wife not us! Did he ever stand up for us when she always belittled us and called our children lowly born?!
And besides aren’t you supposed to be mourning your own children?! Aside from Nazia’s death your Asa has become a servant at the palace!
I don’t want to mourn my only daughter like you so it’s best we leave for my brother’s place at the third province.
Though he’s mere night watchman in his district but he earns a lot to feed his barren wife, he’ll take my Bae as his only child and see to it that she marries a noble to restore our image”. Mistress Soni said and Bae smiled hugging her tight.
“You’re the best mother! And besides father isn’t even mourning any of his children aside Jun! He only cared about his dead son and no body else!
So why must we be selfless for him! Is it because he’s blind now!!”. Bae snapped and Minister Wang who sat on the sandy floor in the small wretched looking hut, began crying holding tight to his walking stick.
After the lightening strike he actually became blind.
“Did you have to shout it so loudly?”. Mistress Yeri snapped at Bae who rolled eyes at her, then Mistress Yeri ran to meet him.
“Honey! Stop crying! You’re not blind! You can see, you can see very brightly!”. Mistress Yeri tried consoling.
“Jun! I want my only son! Where’s Jun!!”. Minister Wang cried loudly and both Mistress Soni and Bae broke into laughter before going to sit at their own corner of the hut.
Mistress Yeri felt betrayed and went to sit at a corner, staring at the whole condition of the family she began crying.
“My Nazia’s dead and Asa the only light in my world is a mere slave at the Palace. If only that witch Lani repented earlier–
“Just shut up you hag!!! My mother!! My mother wouldn’t hage done anything bad if you and the other prostitutes never stole my father from her!!
She only did what she did to protect both i and my sister!! You all ruined our happy family!! You foolish lowlives ruined our lives!!”. Mina shouted from outside the hut. That’s where she was forced to stay since she kept raining insults on everyone.
Her legs were completely useless and were slowly decaying, she had actually received all the her strikes on her legs and they became paralyzed.
She looked the most pitiful amongst the whole family members as her hair was completely bald, Mistress Yeri had helped her shave it completely being bald in only her middle head made it scary for everyone at night.
“How i wish my mother haunts you all in your dreams!! If only you all where the ones who died in her stead!!”. Mina shouted, but nobody replied them.
Then Cherry arrived from her long journey looking so tired and haggered, her long hair dirty and scattered and she held a black which looked very heavy, as she walked past Mina who glared at her and went into the hut.
“You’re back? Did you sell anything? All our jewels and clothes? Did you sell them all?”. Mistress Yeri asked and Cherry nodded smiling as she handed the huge sack to Mistress Yeri who smiled widely but opening the sack, she saw it was filled with stones, giant stones and her eyes widened as she offloaded the entire sack to the ground and immediately everyone in the hurt gasp.
“Where’s the money you earned from selling all our stuffs Cherry?!”. Mistress Yeri said and Cherry began crying as she searched the sack again.
“No wonder the merchant told me not to open the sack till i get home. He conned me!!”. Cherry said crying loudly.
“You mean you sold all our stuffs in exchange for stones?! Now tell me why you didn’t die with your mother!! You useless thing!!”. Mistress Yeri snapped kicking Cherry on the head and she began crying so loudly.
“Take it easy on her junior mother! She’s the only normal sibling i have remaining!”. Bae sneered from where she sat with her mother.
“Just leave them be, we’ll no longer be concerned with them by tomorrow”. Mistress Soni said and Cherry’s eyes widened as she ran to them.
“You’re leaving tomorrow? Please take me with–
“No, get lost!”. Mistress Soni snapped pushing Cherry away and she fell to the ground in tears.
“You won’t reach safely! As long as my mother remains dead you all shall–
Mina paused when she saw a dark shadow in the woods and she blinked frightfully narrowing her gaze to see who it is, only for her eyes to widen when she finally saw his face.
“The Emperor?”. Mina muttered under her breath staring at the shadow but suddenly it disappeared and she blinked profusely trying to understand what just happened.
