INTO THE DEPTHS OF LOVE : CHAPTER 111 – 120
“And where did you learn that?” Kristin asked.
“Aunt Romina. She’s a big fan of romance movies.”
“So Romina shows you romantic movies?” Kristin asked.
Kathryn nodded.
“Mommy’s having mood swings. Give her a kiss. I’m sure she’ll be back to normal.”
“Are you six years old or sixteen?” Richard teased, and Kathryn just grinned.
“Kathryn, go to your room. I need to talk to your daddy Richard. I saved all the trending cartoons for you—no more romantic movies.”
“Daddy Richard, Mommy’s all yours,” Kathryn said with a smile, and when Richard set her down, she ran to her room.
“Damn Romina! How could she show romantic movies to a six-year-old? Now Kathryn knows what attention and kisses mean.”
“Why did she stay with Romina for almost a year?” Richard asked, holding Kristin’s hand as they both walked toward their room.
They had already started sharing the same room.
“Romina insisted on taking Kathryn along. Kathryn was fond of her and agreed to go with her to Singapore.”
“Oh, I see.”
“So, how did your meeting with your sister go? You told me over the phone earlier that your adoptive parents found their daughter.”
“Yes, they did. Adriana seems cool and innocent.”
“Is she pretty?” Kristin asked, sounding a bit jealous.
Richard, sensing her jealousy, chuckled. “You’re prettier.”
“Of course I am, and that’s why I’m the only woman who was able to tame your heart,” Kristin said with a proud smile.
“Yes, you did. I should give you a trophy for it,” Richard teased, and Kristin smiled.
“I’m going to check on Kathryn now. I want to hear more about her first day at school,” Richard said, moving toward the door.
“Aren’t you giving Kathryn more attention than me?” Kristin pouted, folding her arms.
Richard walked back to her, his hands sliding around her waist.
“Are you jealous of your daughter?” Richard asked with a smile.
“I just want my husband,” she said, pouting again, and Richard laughed softly.
“You think it’s funny? Fine, I’m going to bed,” she said, trying to move toward the bed, but Richard pulled her back, her head landing on his chest as his arms wrapped around her.
“I love you more, if that’s what you’re trying to find out. I just don’t want Kathryn to feel the absence of her daddy in her life. I don’t want her to ever feel like I’m not her real dad.”
Kristin lifted her head from his chest and smiled at him. “Thank you, Mr. Grouchy, for accepting my past and loving me despite my flaws.”
“I already told you before, you’re my present and my future. I love you a lot—always remember that.”
“I love you so much, too.”
Richard smiled and leaned in to kiss her, but Kristin stopped him.
“What’s wrong? You don’t want it?”
“I just remembered something.”
“What is it?”
“You once said you’d never kiss me, not even for free.”
“Should I start counting the number of times I’ve kissed you?” Richard teased, and Kristin laughed.
“I know, but you were a proud peacock back then. Should I get revenge on you for all the mean things you said to me?”
“Do you want me to die?”
