Romina’s scream nearly deafened Kristin after she shared the news about her upcoming wedding.
“Easy with the screaming, Romina. You’re going to burst my eardrums.”
“Sorry, Kristin. I’m just so excited! You’re finally having a real wedding!”
“Yes, I am! I’m so happy!” Kristin replied, flashing her sparkling diamond ring. She and Romina squealed with joy, holding hands.
“So, have you told your parents yet?” Romina asked after a moment.
“Yes, I did. They still don’t know how our marriage started, but they’re happy for me. They’ll be there to see me get married.” Kristin smiled warmly.
“I’m so happy for you, bestie. And don’t forget, I’m your bridesmaid!”
“You don’t need to remind me, Romina. You’re my best friend—no one else could be my bridesmaid except you!” Kristin said, making Romina squeal again in excitement.
“I’m just so happy! So, when’s the wedding?”
“My heartbeat and I are still deciding on the date.”
“Heartbeat, huh?” Romina teased, and Kristin laughed.
“You’re so lucky, Kristin. I wish my life was like yours.”
“What about you and Luke?” Kristin asked.
“Luke and I are just friends. He only sees me as a friend, and I don’t want to push it. I’m happy with the friendship we have, and I don’t want to ruin it by expecting more.”
“I’m rooting for you two. Luke is a good man, and I think with them he’d give love another chance. You know what he’s been through, right?”
“Yes, I do. And I’m willing to wait for him—that’s how much I love him.” Romina smiled, and Kristin returned the gesture.

Adriana’s car screeched to a halt in a quiet alley. She stepped out and entered a dimly lit room. A woman sat with her back to Adriana, smoking a cigarette.
“Have you become the heiress of the Hernandez family yet?” the woman asked.
“Not yet. Julio is still being stubborn about naming me as his heiress, and I don’t know why.”
“Be more manipulative, Adriana. That’s how you’ll get him to name you his heir. And what about Ophelia? She still thinks you’re her real child, right? Use that to your advantage and manipulate her into giving you their inheritance.
Once their fortune is in our hands, we’ll have control, and we’ll make them pay for what they did to me. Julio should feel the pain I went through.”
“Okay, Auntie, but I have a question,” Adriana said.
“What is it?” the woman asked, still not turning to face Adriana.
“Who is Julio and Ophelia’s real child? You’ve kept the identity hidden. Where is this child, and why are you keeping it a secret?”
The woman smirked. “You’ll learn the child’s identity soon enough. For now, focus on convincing Julio to make you his heir. That’s why I worked with Mason to deliver a fake DNA test to Ophelia and Julio.”
Adriana rolled her eyes and scoffed. “Fine. I’m leaving,” she said, walking out.
The woman stared at a photograph and smirked maliciously. “I guess it’s time,” she whispered with a devilish grin.
