INTO THE DEPTHS OF LOVE : CHAPTER 141 – 150
Richard watched silently, his own method of dealing with Cecelia playing in his mind. He wanted Kristin to handle the first part—he’d take care of the rest.
Luke staggered into the room, and his presence brought Kristin and Gladys to a halt. He was a good man who had been unfortunate enough to fall in love with someone like Cecelia.
Seeing him, Cecelia began to cry. “I didn’t do anything, Luke. Please save me; they’re going to kill me,” she pleaded, blood seeping from her mouth.
“I heard you confess with my own ears,” Luke replied, struggling to hold back his tears, but he wasn’t as emotionally strong as Richard.
“I admit I killed her father! If she hadn’t snitched on me, I’d still be with you. Our marriage wouldn’t have been annulled!” Cecelia cried, unable to move her arm anymore.
“You ruined our marriage yourself; no one else did. I might have forgiven you if it had been a one-time affair, but you cheated on me for over a year. And on top of that, you aborted four innocent lives.
You killed Dante for revenge? It wasn’t even Kristin who snitched on you, but Tamara!” Luke wiped the tears from his eyes, his voice breaking. He turned to Richard, a mix of sorrow and anger in his gaze.
“I have no business with her anymore. Don’t involve me. Do whatever you want with her,” Luke said, his voice filled with finality as he walked out of the room, leaving Cecelia behind.
Romina quickly followed after him.
“Luke!” Cecelia cried out, her voice faint and desperate. But he didn’t stop, didn’t turn around. Her words seemed to echo uselessly in the cold, unfeeling room.

Romina slowly followed Luke from behind. He was so heartbroken that he forgot he had come with a car.
He walked out of the city jail’s premises, and Romina continued trailing him, unsure whether to approach him or not.
Unsure of what to do, Romina followed him just in case he tried to dash into the road and end his life over Cecelia.
When Luke wasn’t sure where to go, he stumbled into a bar and ordered alcoholic drinks.
Romina sat in a corner, watching him drink silently. Even though he wasn’t saying a word, she could clearly see the pain in his eyes.
He was still in love with Cecelia, and that’s why he felt shattered by her crimes. It wasn’t easy to forget her. He had been eighteen when he fell in love with her, and now he was twenty-eight.
For a whole ten years, he had only had eyes for one woman. Though he regretted loving her, it didn’t ease the burning pain in his heart.
To Luke, Cecelia deserved whatever Richard would do to her. Since his heart was too fragile to hurt a fly, Richard was the one to carry out the punishment.
He gulped down his fifth bottle of alcohol. “How long will you sit there and watch me?” he asked Romina, who was quietly observing him.
Romina bit her lower lip, then slowly went to sit with him.
“You followed me here, so what’s the point of hiding?” he asked, his painful emotions clear in his voice.
“You knew?” Romina asked.
Luke nodded with a sad smile, staring into her hazel eyes. “Aren’t you going to say something?”
“I have nothing to say, Luke. I can’t ask if you’re okay because I know you’re not. I’m not saying this because of my feelings for you, but Cecelia doesn’t deserve your tears.”
“I know. These will be the last tears I shed because of her. After what she did to Kristin, she doesn’t deserve my forgiveness. She’s gone too far. She didn’t just kill her own babies; she took two other lives as well. I wonder what I saw in her to have loved her for ten whole years.”
“You can’t tell your heart who to love. When your head says one thing, your heart says another.”
“Like you?” Luke asked. “Did your head tell you to stop loving me, but your heart kept loving me?” He asked and Romina slowly nodded.
“Why did you fall in love with me?” Luke asked, locking his emerald eyes on her hazel, innocent gaze. Romina could smell the alcohol on his breath—it was the alcohol talking, not him.
But she chose to answer the question. She took a deep breath and said, “I don’t know either. My stupid heart just loves you so much.”
Luke smiled, his dimples appearing.
“I should’ve met you instead of Cecelia ten years ago,” he said softly as he leaned toward Romina’s lips, making her heart race.
Just as he was about to kiss her, Romina gently pushed his head away. Luke smiled at her, and suddenly, his head fell onto the table.
“I knew you were drunk, Luke. I’ll never let you kiss me in this state,” Romina murmured, pressing her lips together and calling for a taxi.
