**GLAMOUR EMPIRE HOTEL – SOME DAYS LATER**
Richard’s eyes scanned the pictures of Victor spotted in different locations.
“If he was in these locations, why hasn’t he been found yet?” Richard asked the detective in charge of the case.
“Well, the police are doing their absolute best to find him. These pictures were captured from the CCTV cameras in his neighborhood.”
Richard slammed his hand on the table, and the detective flinched.
“On a normal basis, I don’t rely on the police for anything because they’re so stupid, and they are liars as well!” Richard raged, memories of the policeman who had played alongside his mother to torture him replaying in his head.
“We are doing our best. He knows what he did, and he is hiding.”
“You’re absolutely doing nothing!” Richard shouted.
“Calm down, Richard.”
“Don’t tell me to calm down, Luke! Victor deliberately killed my wife’s dad”
“My dad was deliberately killed?” Kristin’s voice spoke from behind them, and they all turned to look at her.
Richard felt as if a knife were being pierced inside his heart as Kristin’s tears rushed down her cheeks.
She had come to see Richard, only to hear a different story.
“Forevermore,” Richard called her, going to her.
“What are they talking about, Heartbeat? My dad was deliberately killed, and you didn’t say a word to me about it?” Kristin asked, her voice breaking with heartbreak.
“I was only trying to—”
Richard’s voice was cut short because Kristin slapped him, her tears welling up.
Richard took the slap in silence. He hadn’t wanted Kristin to find out this way. He wanted Victor to be caught first before finally revealing the truth to her.
“I’m sorry,” he apologized in a low voice.
“Sorry? I thought we promised to be honest with each other!” Kristin shouted at him.
“I was protecting you, Forevermore. You’ve been through so much, and if I had told you, you would’ve been consumed by the case. I didn’t tell you for the sake of our unborn baby.”
“Regardless of the fact that our baby is in a critical condition right now, you should’ve told me! It’s my dad we’re talking about here. Do you think I don’t feel devastated every time I remember he’s gone? And you dare keep this from me? I deserved to know the truth. He was my father!”
“I’m sorry, Forevermore,” Richard tried to reach for her, but Kristin jerked his hand away.
“Don’t touch me, Heartbeat! And you, Luke, I thought you were my male best friend. How could you be a part of this lie?” Kristin asked, her voice breaking with emotion.
“I’m sorry, Kristin. We did it to protect you. You could lose the baby if you push too hard,” Luke explained.
“These are just excuses! Keeping the fact that my dad was murdered a secret wasn’t fair. I hate you both right now!” Kristin broke down in tears and ran out.
Richard chased after her, but she got into her car and drove off before he could stop her.
Kristin headed straight to her mom’s fashion store, and luckily, her mother wasn’t attending to any customers. She ran into her arms.
“Mom!” she cried.
“What’s wrong, Kristin? Why are you crying?”
“I should never have let you and Dad stay in Las Vegas. If you both had gone back to Glenwood, Dad would still be alive. He wouldn’t have been killed,” Kristin sobbed.
Confused, Gladys pulled back to look at her daughter.
“What are you talking about, Kristin?”
