Adriana stood up from the couch and clapped her hands slowly, a grin stretching across her face. “Bravo, Aunt Paulina! You should seriously consider auditioning for a movie role. When Richard introduced you as his mother at Julio’s house, I was genuinely shocked. Your plan worked flawlessly.”
Tabitha took another drag from her cigarette, exhaling the smoke leisurely. She didn’t respond but smirked, clearly pleased with herself.
“But I’m still confused,” Adriana continued. “You told me that when you took me from Julio and Ophelia twenty years ago, they knew who you were. So why can’t they remember you now? It seems impossible for Julio to forget the face of the woman who caused him so much pain.”
Tabitha walked over to a drawer, pulled it open, and retrieved an old photograph. She handed it to Adriana, who studied it intently.
“Who is this?” Adriana asked, perplexed.
“That’s me,” Tabitha replied.
Adriana blinked in confusion. “You? But this woman looks nothing like you.”
Tabitha smiled coldly. “That’s because the face you and Richard know isn’t my real face. The woman in that picture—that’s who I really am.”
Adriana’s mind raced. “I don’t understand, Aunt Paulina. After you abducted me from Julio and Ophelia, you told me I wasn’t their real daughter and that I need to help you get revenge because Julio broke his promise to you. Was that all a lie?”
“No,” Tabitha replied firmly. “Julio and Ophelia are the reason I ended up in an acid accident. My face was destroyed in the accident, and I had to use all my wealth to reconstruct it. The face you see now isn’t the one I was born with. After that, I changed my name from Paulina to Tabitha.”
“Oh, now it makes sense why Julio and Ophelia can’t recognize you,” Adriana said, the pieces finally clicking into place. “But why involve Richard? I thought he was your son?”
Tabitha’s eyes darkened as she turned to face the window again. “I never liked him. He’s the adopted son of the Hernandez family. Richard is the reason for all my suffering. He should never have been born, and that’s why he’s part of my revenge. Him and his so-called family—Kristin, Kathryn, and that unborn child.”
“Kathryn isn’t even his daughter,” Adriana remarked, causing Tabitha to snap her head around in surprise.
“What do you mean?”
“Richard may claim that Kathryn is his daughter, but he’s not the one who got Kristin pregnant. Kathryn is the result of a one-night stand Kristin had with an unknown man. The real child Richard fathered is the one growing inside Kristin right now.”
Tabitha’s lips curled into a wicked grin. “This just keeps getting better.”
Adriana’s curiosity was far from sated. “One more question. Who is Julio and Ophelia’s real child? You’ve been so secretive about it. Isn’t it time you tell me? We’re so close to completing your revenge. Is she someone I know?”
Tabitha took another cigarette, lit it, and exhaled a long plume of smoke. She stared at Adriana for a moment before finally speaking.
“Fine. I’ll tell you. That child is…”

Richard entered Kathryn’s room and saw her coloring in a drawing book.
“What are you doing?” he asked.
Kathryn looked up at him and quickly went to hug him.
“Welcome back, Daddy Richard. Mummy said you both had to do something at the court. Did it go well?” she asked. Richard nodded, not wanting to go into the details of the case.
“Did you miss Daddy?” he asked with a playful smile.
“Yes, I did, but Uncle Luke kept me company. He is so nice,” Kathryn grinned.
“I’m glad you had a good time with your Uncle Luke. So what’s my baby Kathy drawing?” Richard asked. Kathryn quickly went to get the drawing book.
“I’m drawing a family portrait of us.”
“Really?”
