INTO THE DEPTHS OF LOVE : CHAPTER 161 – 170
Adriana stepped out of her car when she arrived in a rural area in Las Vegas, where the less privileged lived.
She walked toward an old building and knocked on the door. A man opened it.
“It’s you again,” he smiled.
Adriana smiled, seeing her twin brother. She had doubted Tabitha’s claims about her family, but after a DNA test, she confirmed they were her real family.
“How are you, Jasper?” she asked.
“I’m good,” he smiled.
“And your dad?” she asked, feeling sad that she couldn’t even call him ‘Dad.’
“He’s inside. Want to see him?” Jasper asked.
Adriana nodded, and they both entered the small living room; it was obvious they lived hand to mouth.
“Melody!” her dad smiled at her. She had lied and told them her name was Melody.
“How are you?” she asked, hiding the sadness in her eyes. It was one of the things Tabitha had trained her to do.
“It’s hard living in a wheelchair, but I’m fine.”
“We’re about to eat. You should join us,” Jasper smiled.
“I’m sorry, but I can’t. I came to give you this,” Adriana said, pulling an envelope from her bag and handing it to them.
“Why are you always giving us money? We’re not your family.”
Adriana smiled at her father. “Like I told you before, I work for a charity organization that helps disabled people like you. Use it for your upkeep. I’ll visit when I have time.”
“Thank you, Melody,” Jasper said.
Adriana nodded. “I have to go now,” she said, and with that, she left.
“She’s so nice, Dad. If my twin sister hadn’t died alongside Mom, I’d say she’s my twin,” Jasper smiled, and his dad nodded in agreement.
Meanwhile, Adriana got into her car, resting her head on the headrest, feeling a twinge of sadness.
“Well, it’s better they’re alive without me being a part of their lives than them being dead,” Adriana muttered to herself when a call from Tabitha came through.
“Speaking of the devil,” she hissed, answering the phone.
“What do you want?!”
“Don’t use that tone with me, young lady,” Tabitha sneered.
Adriana sighed. “Why did you call?” she asked, her voice softer this time.
“Head over to Kathryn’s school. Our plan is in motion.”
INTO THE DEPTHS OF LOVE : CHAPTER 161 – 170
The children all got down from the school bus, excitedly chatting and laughing as they arrived at the zoo. Their excitement was contagious, filling the air as they clung to their backpacks and held hands in small groups. Five teachers had accompanied the kids on this special outing, including Vanessa.
Kathryn, as usual, was in the middle of her group, sandwiched between her friends Corrine and Isabella. They were inseparable, always giggling together and whispering secrets. As they joined the other kids in exploring the animals, Vanessa kept a watchful eye on the group, making sure no one wandered off.
“We always talk about the gorillas, right?” Vanessa asked the kids with a playful tone, her eyes bright. “Are you ready to see the gorillas?”
“Yes!” the kids screamed in unison, their small bodies bouncing up and down with excitement. The sound of their laughter echoed around the zoo.
Kathryn, who considered herself the leader of their little group, whispered something to Corrine and Isabella. Both girls nodded their heads, smiling mischievously. It was clear that the trio had something up their sleeves.
“So let’s go see the gorillas first, kids,” Vanessa continued. “And after that, we’ll go check out the elephants!”
