INTO THE DEPTHS OF LOVE : CHAPTER 171 – 180

The emergency room buzzed with urgency as Richard lay on the gurney, unconscious, his shirt soaked in blood. Doctors and nurses swarmed around him, their faces grim as they snapped on pairs of gloves.
“Richard Hernandez, thirty years old, gray eyes, 188 cm tall. Three gunshot wounds to the back,” a nurse said, her voice steady but tense.
The doctors nodded, quickly assessing the situation. “Alright, let’s get him stabilized. Check his vitals—now!” one of the doctors ordered.
“Heart rate’s dropping, BP’s 90 over 60,” another nurse called out. “He’s losing too much blood.”
“Start a transfusion immediately. We need to stop this bleeding before we lose him,” another doctor instructed firmly.
One of the nurses pressed her hand on the wound, applying pressure. “He’s still unconscious, doc.”
“We need to remove the bullets” the doctor said, his eyes darting to the nurse as he gave instructions. “We don’t have much time.”
The nurse returned moments later, breathless. “Should we prep him for surgery?”
“Yes, and get that OR ready. We can’t wait for the bullets to move. Every second counts if we want to save him.”
Richard was moved to the OR immediately, and the operation began.

**RICHARD’S VILLA**
Earlier, Kristin had cried herself to sleep, only to wake up suddenly, as if from an attack.
“Heartbeat…” Her voice was low.
She quickly got out of bed and rushed downstairs, where Romina and Gladys were and Romina quickly turned off the TV.
“What’s going on?” Kristin asked, noticing the sadness on both her mother’s and Romina’s faces.
“It’s nothing, Kristin. You’re pregnant, so you should be resting. Romina and I have somewhere to go,” Gladys said, her voice breaking as tears fell before she could stop them.
“Why are you crying?” Kristin asked. Gladys quickly wiped her tears and forced a smile.
“I’m not crying, Kristin. You should go back to resting.”
“You were both watching something, but you turned it off when you saw me. What were you watching?” Kristin pressed.
“It’s nothing. Richard will do his best to bring Kathryn home,” Romina said, and Gladys nodded in agreement.
Kristin looked at them suspiciously. “I feel like something has happened to my husband,” she said, her voice trembling. Gladys and Romina exchanged nervous glances.
They had already seen the news about Richard being shot and turned off the TV to keep Kristin from finding out.
“I’m sure Richard will be fine. Please, go back to sleep, Kristin,” Romina insisted.
“Why do you both keep insisting I sleep? What’s really going on?”
“Nothing is going on, Kristin. We just want you to rest. You’ve been crying all day,” Gladys said.
“Give me the remote.”
“What?” Romina stammered.
“Give me the remote, Romina!”
“There’s nothing to watch on TV, Kristin,” Gladys said.
“That’s why I need it!” Kristin snapped and forcefully took the remote from Romina. She turned on the TV, and her eyes widened in horror as she saw the news of Richard, bloodied, being rushed into the hospital on a stretcher.
Every major news network was broadcasting the story.
“Richard Hernandez, Las Vegas’s most powerful man, is being rushed to the hospital after being shot three times in the back at a location known as ‘The Quiet Area.’ He is in critical condition, and it’s unclear if he will survive.”
