“Where’s Tabitha?” Richard asked Adriana, who sat across from him, Luke, Lewis, and the FBI team.
“Her silence is intentional,” Adriana replied.
“What do you mean?” Luke asked.
“I’ve finally managed to keep my family out of danger, but she should’ve come after me now that I’ve escaped her, but she didn’t. She’s smart and knows I’ve likely told you everything I know about her. She’s aware you’re coming for her and she is preparing,” Adriana explained.
“Can you clarify?” Mark, the FBI team leader, asked.
“Tabitha has only two hideouts: a warehouse in the woods and an underground bunker in the middle of nowhere. Since the FBI already knows about the warehouse, her only option left is the bunker. I’m the only one who knows where it’s located, and she’ll assume I’ll tell you. The bunker is her territory, and she won’t leave. She’s likely planning something for your arrival,” Adriana said.
“What kind of plans?” Lewis asked.
“I’m not sure. She’s a psychopath, and I can’t predict her thoughts. Whatever she’s planning, it won’t be good. Julio created a monster in her, and it’ll be hard to take her down,” Adriana warned.
“We don’t care how dangerous she is, Adriana. I’m going to put an end to her madness,” Richard said firmly.
Adriana swallowed hard.

“No! I won’t let you face Tabitha!” Kristin cried, blocking the door. “I won’t allow it, Heartbeat! You’re not going anywhere!”
“Forevermore—”
“No! I’m not listening to you! You know how dangerous Tabitha is; she can kill without blinking. I can’t let you go to her,” Kristin insisted, tears streaming down her face.
“I’m not going alone, Forevermore.”
“All the more reason for the FBI to handle it. They’re trained to catch criminals like her. You may be strong, but you’re not trained like they are. This is their job; let them do it alone!”
“Forever—”
“I won’t listen until you say you’re staying, Heartbeat. Kathryn is only six, and I’m a month away from giving birth. What if something happens to you? I don’t want my baby to grow up without a father. If you love me, stay here and let the FBI handle it.”
Richard walked over, gently wiping her tears. “You know how much I love you; why test me this way?”
Kristin sobbed. “Because I don’t want you to go. I don’t want to lose you. Please, just stay here with me.”
Richard sighed, pained by the decision he was making. He pulled her close, wrapping his arms around her.
“Nothing will happen to me, Forevermore. Tabitha may be dangerous, but she won’t get to me. I promise I’ll come back to you, Kathryn, and our little Richard.”
Kristin broke away, hitting his chest as she cried. He smiled softly, wiping her tears again.
“I promise I’ll come back alive and kicking. We still have more babies to make after little Richard arrives.”
“How can you joke at a time like this?” Kristin frowned, her tears continuing.
“It’s my assurance. And I also have something I need to tell you. I won’t die without letting you know the truth.”
“What truth?” Kristin asked.
“Something I’ve kept from you for too long. I’ll come back safely so I can tell you.”
“Promise me you’ll come back without a scratch.”
Richard smiled, kissing her forehead. “I promise. You can’t give birth without me by your side.”
