Kristin stared at him for a while, before nodding her head, Richard smiled slightly.
“But we got a bigger fish to fry, Mr. Grouchy”
“How?” He asked.
“You are here in Glenwood because of me , and there’s no way I’d send you back. I don’t know what to tell my mom if she sees you in our house”
“It’s simple, just tell her I am your husband”
“I can’t do that. I told my parents that I work in Las Vegas as a waitress. They have no idea that I am married to you”
“I’m not a good liar, what should we do?” Richard asked.
Kristin’s finger went to her mouth, trying to come up with something to tell her mom.
She clapped her hands when she finally got an idea.
“I’m going to tell my mom, you’re my boss” She smiled.
“You think she’d buy that? What boss travels all the way from Vegas to Glenwood to see his employee”
“You’re kind of right, but I have an idea” Kristin smiled, while Richard furrowed his eyebrows, wondering what was going on in her head
Kristin took Richard’s hand and they both went back home.
Gladys was surprised to see her daughter with a handsome well-built tall man, with a perfect jawline.
“Who is he?” She asked.
“He is my boss from Las Vegas, mom,” Kristin smiled.
“From Las Vegas?” She asked, looking at Richard.
“Good evening to you, ma’am”
Gladys nodded, but was confused on why her daughter’s boss was in her house.
“Did my daughter do something wrong in Vegas?”
“No she didn’t ma’am” Richard replied.
“Then why is he here, Kristin?”
“It’s just a coincidence mom. He came to Glenwood because he has some properties here, can he spend two or three here?” Kristin mumbled.
Gladys smiled at Richard, but gave Kristin a scolding look.
“Let’s talk, Kristin” She drags her into the room, locking the door, while Richard inspect their house. It was so small but comfortable.
“Why is your boss here?” Gladys whispers.
“I told you he is here to check some of his properties” Kristin whispers to her.
“And you welcomed him here?”
“He is not a bad person, mom”
“I never said he was a bad person, but his face is too cold. I can’t figure out what is in his mind, because his face is a made home for coldness. Can’t he put on a smile?”
Kristin heaves a sigh, cuz she is the only one who understands Richard, and Luke too.
“Mom, he is nice. He wears a cold face not because he wishes to, but that’s what life gave to him”
“What do you mean?” Gladys asked.
“I can’t go into details, but he’s my boss and I know him so well. If he wasn’t nice to me, I wouldn’t have welcomed him. Just allow him to stay here for a few days, he’d go back to Vegas soon, trust me” Kristin pleaded.
“Are you sure he is not the devil’s first son?”
“Mom!” Kristin chortled and continued talking.
“He is not the devil’s son. He is nice, forget the way he keeps his face okay. You’re going to enjoy his company”
Gladys sighed while Kristin waited for her reply.
“Fine. I’m going to allow him to stay here for a few days. It’s for a few days and nothing more”
Kristin squealed and hugged her mom.
“Thank you so much, mom. You’re the best” She pecks her cheeks.
