INTO THE DEPTHS OF LOVE : CHAPTER 41 – 50
Richard stood near the window, talking to Luke on the phone. He was given a room that belongs to Dante, since he was still unconscious in the hospital.
“What? You’re in Glenwood?” Luke asked, sounding surprised.
“Yes”
“You’re so unpredictable Richard. The reason why you asked me where Kristin stays in Glenwood was because you have plans to go to Glenwood to see her?” Luke asked.
He knows where Kristin stays in Glenwood, because he once did a background check on Kristin, but Richard is still reluctant in opening the file and go through her details.
“Do you even know how hard it was to locate her? You couldn’t give a proper description”
Luke chuckled over the phone.
“I was right after, you miss her”
“Yes, I admit it. I miss her, did it add five hundred years to your age?” Richard asked.
“No it didn’t, but I am glad you went to Glenwood to see Kristin. It’s so romantic”
“There’s nothing romantic in it, Luke. I don’t love Kristin romantically, I only miss her. There are two different things”
“Fine” Luke surrendered.
“Take care of my business in Vegas, I will be back soon”
“Don’t worry, it’s in safe hands. You’ve got a hardworking assistant”
“I know, you don’t have to brag about it” Richard said, his left hand going to the pocket of his pants.
“You won’t look into Kristin’s background?” Luke asked after a few silence.
“Why? Is there something to see?” He asked, and Luke shook his head as if Richard could see him.
“Of course not, Richard. Have a wonderful time in Glenwood” Luke ended the call.
Richard puffed out air from his mouth. His eyes scanned the room, and he smiled lightly when he saw a childhood picture of Kristin.
He took the frame, staring at it.
“Her face didn’t change, she is still cute like she was in her childhood days”
Kristin knocked at the door, and Richard opened the door for her.
“I was wondering if you need anything?”
“No I don’t” He replied.
“Are you hungry?” Kristin asked.
“I don’t always have the appetite to eat, you don’t have to stress yourself”
Kristin nodded.
This is the first time Richard will be spending the night in her house and in her hometown, she was kind of nervous, because her environment was different from his.
“Do you have something to say?” Richard asked, and Kristin fakes a smile, shaking her head.
“You don’t have to be nervous, Firefly. I wasn’t born with a silver spoon. I was once a beggar, remember?”
Kristin smiled.
“If you don’t find it comfortable here, just let me know”
Richard nodded, staring at her.
“Will you be fine sleeping alone? I can’t sleep beside you, my mom might suspect something is going on”
“I have been suffering from insomnia for over twenty years now, I’m used to it, Firefly. Get some sleep”
“Good night” She smiled at him.
She turned to leave, but Richard held her hand.
“Good night firefly. I’m happy seeing your smile again” He said in a soft voice.
“You’re welcome,” Kristin said, smiling dazzlingly.
