INTO THE DEPTHS OF LOVE : CHAPTER 41 – 50
Richard was about to reply when Justo ran inside the house. Richard furrowed his eyebrows on seeing Justo.
“Have you forgotten how to knock?” Kristin asked.
“Should I knock on my own house?” Justo replied with a question.
Richard felt relaxed, thinking Justo might be a brother to Kristin.
Justo emptied the jug of water, he sat beside Kristin, wrapping his hand on her shoulder.
“Good morning, my wife”
Richard choked immediately he heard the word “my wife” from Justo’s mouth.
He began coughing.
Kristin gave him a glass of water, while Justo looked at Richard wondering who he was.
“Your wife?” Richard asked, after he stopped coughing.
“Yes, she is my wife, who are you?” Justo asked.
Kristin hits his chest, and takes Justo’s hand off her shoulder.
“Don’t mind him. He lives here in Glenwood”
“Why is he calling you his wife?” Richard asked.
“Why would she explain herself to you?” Justo asked, and Richard shot him a dead look, that almost gave Justo a scare.
“He is still not over the drama we acted in high school”
“You both have known each other for long?” Richard asked. He could feel a part of himself getting jealous.
“Yes. Do you have a problem with that?” Justo asked.
Richard tightened his fist under the table, if not for Kristin, he’d have taught him a lesson.
“That’s enough Justo. You can’t talk to him like that” Kristin said.
“Why not? Who is he anyway?”
Kristin was about answering Justo’s question, but Richard beat her to it.
“I’m Richard Hernandez from Las Vegas, I’m her hus….”
Richard almost said the word HUSBAND, but knowing Kristin will have lots of questions to answer, he paused for a while, and continued.
“I’m her boss”
“Why is your boss here?” Justo asked, directing the question at Kristin.
“He is here for his properties” Kristin replied.
“No wonder he is so full of himself”
Richard’s eyes darkened.
“Just shut up, Justo”
“Can’t your husband tell you how arrogant your boss is?”
Kristin was speechless.
Richard’s eyes darkened the more, the fact that Justo kept calling Kristin his wife, made him angry.
Why was he even jealous? Richard questioned himself as his cold eyes were fixed on Justo.
“Do you have something to say to me? Why are you looking at me with those cold eyes of yours?” Justo asked.
The clenching of Richard’s fist increased under the table, but for Kristin’s sake, he chose to be calm.
“No I don’t” Richard answered.
“Well I have something to say to you” Justo snorted.
“What could that be?” Richard inquired.
“Let’s go for a hunting competition”
“I think you should go home, Justo,” Kristin said, trying to make him stand up.
“Don’t tell me to leave, Kristin. Hunting is a common thing to do in Glenwood. Is he too weak to go hunting?” Justo mocked Richard.
Kristin knew Richard was running out of patience, and he might do something to Justo for downgrading him.
“Is he that weak?” Justo said again, sarcastically and chortled.
“Listen my wife, you should find a strong boss to work with in Vegas, not a weakling”
“Justo!” Kristin snapped.
“I understand if he is nothing but a weakling,” Justo smiled, touching Kristin’s chin.
Richard bangs his hands on the table, his eyes darkened the more, such that Kristin was scared of what he was about to do.
Richard held Kristin’s hand and pulled her to his side, his cold gray eyes shooting arrows at Justo.
“The hunting…. I’m going to do it” Richard growled.
Kristin’s jaw dropped, instantly.
Kristin quickly took Richard outside the house, while Justo remained inside.
“What are you thinking Mr. Grouchy? You don’t know how to hunt, so why did you accept the challenge?” Kristin asked.
She was worried about Richard, hunting wasn’t a child’s play.
“You said you only had one friend, why did you lie?” Richard asked.
He hated the fact that Kristin has known Justo for so long.
“I didn’t lie to you, Mr. Grouchy. Romina is the only friend I have”
“What about him?” He asked.
“I don’t regard Justo as a friend, I see him as a brother. Justo acts crazy sometimes, and you shouldn’t let his words get to you” Kristin said.
“I don’t care Firefly, I am going to do it”
“Don’t be stubborn and listen to me. You’re going to get injured”
“You think I am a weakling?” Richard asked, he wasn’t pleased with Kristin’s words.
Kristin quickly shook her head and said.
“I don’t consider you as a weakling. You of all people know you’re not a weakling, so you don’t have to prove anything”
“I hate the fact that he calls you his wife!” Richard said, trying so hard not to sound harsh.
