INTO THE DEPTHS OF LOVE : CHAPTER 71 – 80

Natalie laughed, a genuine laugh she hadn’t felt in a long time.

Since her paralysis, life had been difficult, and Lewis had only made things worse. He had abandoned her and barely showed affection.

“I have to go now, Natalie. I’m eagerly waiting for your book to come out,” Luke said with another smile before leaving.

Natalie’s smile lingered even after Luke left the ward. However, as she reminisced about her past with Lewis, the smile faded.

“Your heart can’t flutter for Luke, Natalie. He’s married, and so are you,” she sighed.

She looked at Lewis, still unconscious, and wondered why she had fallen in love with him years ago. Back then, she had been happy with him, but her love for him was now fading.

**GLENWOOD**

On the farm, Gladys and Dante were busy harvesting crops from the dark soil.

Dante, though back on his feet, couldn’t stop worrying about Kristin.

“I already told you, Dante, she’s doing fine in Vegas,” Gladys said.

“I know she is, but I’m still curious about the kind of job she’s doing in Vegas. In just two months, she’s managed to pay off half of our debt.”

“It’s Las Vegas we’re talking about. It’s a city where the wealthy live.”

“What if she makes the same mistake again?” Dante asked, and Gladys hit his shoulder.

“I thought we agreed not to dwell on that. We barely discuss Kristin’s one-night stand with a stranger because we don’t want her to feel degraded,” Gladys said, almost yelling.

“I’m just worried.”

“Kristin is an adult now. When she had that one-night encounter, she was only nineteen. She’s not likely to let the past repeat itself.”

“Grandma! Grandpa!” a tiny voice called out loudly.

Gladys and Dante looked up to see a little girl running towards them. Her ponytails bounced as she rushed over.

She was six years old but looked small and cute, just like her mom, Kristin.

“Kathryn!” Dante and Gladys exclaimed in unison, welcoming her into their arms.

“How is my little pony doing?” Dante asked, playfully pinching her cheeks. She laughed, revealing some missing teeth.

“I’m fine, Grandpa. Did you miss me?” Kathryn asked, her bubbly smile a mirror of her mother’s.

“Of course we did. You’ve been gone for over a year. Give Grandma another hug,” Gladys said, spreading her arms as Kathryn ran into them.

“How was Singapore? Did it treat you well?”

“It was great! Everyone kept saying I’m cute! I made lots of friends!” Kathryn said enthusiastically, using her arms to gesture.

She was an extroverted child with a lot of energy, and she had inherited her mother’s cheerful disposition, though she had gray eyes.

“Where’s Romina?” Dante asked after they had talked to Kathryn to their satisfaction.

“I’ve been waiting for you both to notice me,” Romina waved at them.

Gladys and Dante smiled at her.

“Where’s Kristin? It’s unlike her not to be here. She loves playing with the soil and milking cows,” Romina said with a smile.

“She’s in Las Vegas,” Dante answered.

“My mummy is in Las Vegas!” Kathryn gasped.
