INTO THE DEPTHS OF LOVE : CHAPTER 81 – 90
Kristin took a deep breath, her chest tightening. “There’s something I need to tell you.”
Richard’s brows furrowed slightly. “Then say it. I’m listening.”
“I… I…” Kristin hesitated, struggling to find the words. She wanted to tell him, but fear kept holding her back.
“What is it, Forevermore? Why is it so hard for you to say?” he asked gently.
“I love you too,” she blurted out, surprising even herself. It wasn’t what she had meant to say, but the moment felt too fragile to ruin it with the truth about Kathryn.
Richard’s face lit up with a smile, one so genuine and bright that Kristin couldn’t help but smile back, despite the guilt gnawing at her insides.
“You love me too?” he repeated, his smile deepening. It was the first time she had seen him smile like that, and she knew it wasn’t a look she would have seen if she’d told him the truth.
At that moment, she decided to hold off on the confession. The happiness in his eyes was too precious to shatter.
“Yes, Mr. Grouchy. You may be cold and distant, but I love you just the way you are.”
Richard remained quiet, staring at her intently, and the next thing she knew, he had lifted her off the ground, holding her tightly.
Kristin laughed, wrapping her legs around his waist. “Am I not heavy? You keep lifting me every chance you get.”
He shook his head, a soft chuckle escaping him. With one hand supporting her back, the other brushed a strand of hair from her face. “I’m curious about something.”
“What is it” she asked, her smile widening as her arms looped around his neck.
“When did you start falling for me?” he asked, his gray eyes searching hers.
“I don’t know. It just… happened,” she said with a slight blush. “What about you? Was it that night you got drunk in Glenwood?”
Richard looked puzzled. “Did I say something when I was drunk?”
Kristin giggled. “You don’t remember?”
“I never drink because I forget everything when I’m drunk. So, what did I say?”
“You already said it again,” she teased, her face flushing.
“So, I confessed to you when I was drunk?” Richard shook his head, a sheepish smile on his face. “I don’t remember a thing.”
Kristin nodded. “My turn. When did you fall in love with me?”
“I wasn’t sure at first, especially with how I’ve always felt about women. But if I had to guess, I’d say it was the moment I first saw you.”
“So, you fell first?”
“I suppose I did,” he admitted with a grin. Then, without warning, he captured her lips again, pulling her closer as their kiss deepened.
INTO THE DEPTHS OF LOVE : CHAPTER 81 – 90
Kristin’s parents stared in shock as they toured the house Richard had just bought for them. They could hardly believe they would be living in such luxury.
Richard and Kristin were with them. Richard was carrying Kathryn, who was reluctant to let go.
“Do you like your new house?” Richard asked. “If you don’t, I can have it replaced immediately.”
Dante was speechless. Although it was already known that Richard was a billionaire, the opulence of the house and his willingness to replace it if they weren’t satisfied left him dumbfounded.
Since he was quiet, Gladys spoke up.
“It’s so beautiful, Richard. You didn’t have to spend so much on a house for us. We were planning to return to Glenwood.”
“You’re my wife’s family. Spending a little for you isn’t a big deal. Besides, Baby Kathy doesn’t want to go back, right?”
“Yes, I want to be with Daddy Richard,” Kathryn said, hugging him possessively. Richard smiled.
“She’s just a kid. You don’t have to take her words to heart,” Dante said, glancing at Kristin, knowing she hadn’t yet revealed the truth to Richard.
“It’s not just Baby Kathy. I also want my wife to be close to her family,” Richard continued, holding Kristin’s hand. “I want you all to live here so I can get to know my wife’s family. You can start a business here—just let me know what interests you, and I’ll sponsor it.”
