“Richard is trying to control his anger. We should give him space before he explodes,” Luke advised.

Kristin nodded. “I think I’ll stay at my parents’ place tonight. If I go home, it might just make things worse.”

“Your parents are in Vegas?”

“Yes. They came after seeing that public kiss between Mr. Grouchy and me. They don’t know how my marriage really began, but they’re planning to stay in Las Vegas permanently. Richard already canceled the one-year contract, so he insists they stay.”

“I’ll drive you to your parents’ house. Maybe I’ll finally meet your daughter,” Luke said with a smile, though Kristin didn’t return it, still weighed down by her problems with Richard.

“Don’t worry. Richard will come back to you,” Luke reassured her. Kristin nodded, hoping his words would come true.

Luke drove her to her parents’ house as promised. The moment she walked through the door, her parents embraced her tightly.

“We saw the video, thanks to Romina. How did Richard react?” Dante asked.

“He defended me in public, but he’s furious. He doesn’t even want to see me,” Kristin said, her voice full of pain.

“That’s why I told you to be honest with him from the start. He had to hear it from his adoptive mother,” Dante scolded gently.

“That woman had no right to humiliate my daughter! Even if she had a one-night stand, that doesn’t make her a slut! Ophelia will hear from me!” Gladys fumed, trying to head out the door.

“Mom, please don’t make things worse,” Kristin pleaded, holding her back.

“Why shouldn’t I? That woman humiliated you in front of everyone!” Gladys snapped.

“Richard will take care of it. He won’t let Ophelia off the hook,” Luke said calmly.

“And who are you?” Dante asked.

“I’m Luke, Richard’s personal assistant. Trust me, Richard will make sure Ophelia pays, but first, he just have to get out from his emotional state first,” Luke explained.

Gladys sighed. “How are you feeling, honey?” she asked, holding Kristin’s hand.

“Hurt, but I won’t stop asking for his forgiveness,” Kristin replied.

“That’s the right thing to do. I can’t even face my son-in-law right now,” Dante said, shaking his head.

Romina entered the house with Kathryn, who was happily licking an ice cream cone.

“Mummy!” Kathryn ran into Kristin’s arms, while Romina focused on Luke, wondering why he was here, but felt happy about it.

“I thought you were worried about your friend, so why are you staring at him like that?” Gladys asked with the way Romina was gawking at Luke.

“She has a crush on Uncle Luke!” Kathryn giggled.

“Is that true?” Dante asked with raised eyebrows.

“Of course not!” Romina laughed awkwardly, then turned to Kristin. “How’s Richard?” she asked in Filipino.

“He’s mad,” Kristin replied in the same language.

Romina patted her shoulder sympathetically.

“I’m happy to see you again, Uncle Luke,” Kathryn said, waving at him. Luke smiled warmly.

After chatting for a while, Luke decided to leave. As he was getting into his car, Romina rushed out to him.

“Luke!” she called, smiling.

He looked at her with mild surprise.

“Don’t you remember me? I’m the one who was with Kathryn when that car almost hit her.”

“I remember,” he said simply.

“I thought you’d forgotten.” She grinned.
