REVENGE WITH LOVE : CHAPTER 101 – 110

CHAPTER 105 & 106:

BIG CAT.

“You didn’t have to come all the way here to see me,” Tesiera said when Big Cat was allowed into her bedroom. Instead of scolding her for not checking in with him after a mission, he walked over, circled the bed, and enveloped her in a tight hug.

Tesiera was taken aback. Big Cat wasn’t known for hugging, and he certainly wasn’t one to show his emotions openly.

“You scared me, Siera. Promise me you won’t do that again,” he whispered intensely, his words brushing against her hair.

Tesiera relaxed into the hug. Big Cat was the closest thing to a father figure she had after losing her own father. While there were days when she longed for his fatherly embrace from her childhood, she resisted the urge to seek it out. She had kept a certain emotional distance from him, not wanting to get too attached, fearing the pain of losing him someday. After all, Big Cat was the Mafia Godfather, and in the past, he had been deeply involved in the criminal organization, unlike now when he was more focused on legal ventures.

After the recent shock and trauma, it felt comforting to be held by him like this, so she wrapped her arms around him. “I’m okay, there’s nothing to worry about.”

“I wish they hadn’t killed that man. I would have liked to deal with him myself. Roast him alive for daring to harm you. Cut off his head and put it on display his head at the compound’s edge as a warning to anyone who thinks they can touch my girl.” He tightened his grip.

Tesiera couldn’t help but smile. When Big Cat got angry, he had a way of describing in graphic detail how he would exact his revenge. Perhaps that’s where she picked up the habit.

She pulled back to look into his eyes, her gaze softening at the concern on his usually stern face. “I’m fine now, Raymond is dead, and I’m healing. Let go of your anger, Big Cat.”

He nodded, taking a deep breath, and moved to sit beside her bed. She made room for him, and he settled in. “How are you really feeling? Don’t tell me you’re fine.”

“Well, let’s see. My thighs feel like lead, my ankle hurts like hell, I’ve got a splitting headache, and I’m fighting the urge to sleep.”

“Can’t the doctor give you something to ease the pain? Make you feel better?” he asked, his lips pressed together in concern.

Seeing Big Cat worry like this was almost amusing. “I’m sure he would have if it was necessary. He saved my life, stitched me up, and brought me to this point.”

“I’m grateful he was there with you, and his guards too. I could never convince you to take someone with you on a mission, no matter how hard I tried. I don’t know how he managed it, but I’m thankful to him.” He paused, some of the tension leaving him, and a softer expression settled on his face. “He cares about you. To do all this for you, he really cares about you.”

Tesiera opened her mouth to respond but closed it again. It echoed what Bose had told her in the conference room, something that had seemed absurd at the time but now… She didn’t know what to think anymore.

“It’s not personal. They said I’m part of their team, and they protect their own,” she said, her voice catching as longing swept over her. Six months ago, she would have scoffed at this notion, but now… She swallowed hard as emotions welled up inside her.

“There’s that too. But a busy man like Kracus Kingston doesn’t leave his work, risk his life, and the lives of two friends to protect a stranger just because she joined the team. This same stranger had tried to assassinate him twice in the past. He not only did all that but also spent hours stitching her up and has been taking care of her ever since,” Big Cat explained, a warm smile on his face. “There are things a good man does for his team, but trust me, this is an extreme level of care. He genuinely cares about you, like a man would care about a woman he likes. He made your problem his own and put himself in the center of it, not caring how dangerous it was.”

Tesiera couldn’t comprehend why any man would care about her. As many had pointed out, she was more machine than human. She was an emotionally detached woman whose skills revolved around killing and torture.

“He’s insane,” she muttered even though deep inside her, that wave of longing surfaced again. What would it feel like to be loved by a man like Kracus?

Big Cat chuckled. “He is, isn’t he?”

Tesiera avoided eye contact. “No man has ever cared about me before. I don’t know how to handle that.”

“What does your heart tell you to do?” Big Cat asked, curiously.

She arched an eyebrow. “My heart? Since when did you become so sentimental, sir?”

He grinned at her, unfazed. “I know you hate discussing matters of the heart or emotions, but maybe it’s time you start listening to them.”

“No, that can’t be right.” Her feelings pulled her towards Kracus with a force like a storm. She wanted to let go, to be in his arms. She wanted to let all her guards down, and surrender all control to him. It scared her.

She shook her head, firmly repeating, “No, that can’t be right.”

Big Cat regarded her for a moment, his gaze penetrating. Tesiera felt exposed and avoided his eyes.

“I know your brain has served you well for a long time, Siera, but sometimes it’s okay to listen to your heart and your feelings,” he said gently. “Often, what they say may not make sense to your brain, but those are the times when your heart is right. I may not have been the best father out there, and I’m often surprised by how I managed fatherhood at all. I’m not winning any Father of the Year awards, that’s for sure. But this is my advice to you, not as Big Cat or Damian Solokov the Mafia Godfather, but as a man who sees you as the only child he’s ever had.”

Tesiera swallowed hard. “All this talk about feelings… it’s all Milane’s fault. I have no idea what she’s been feeding you, you used to be more fun.”

Big Cat burst into laughter at the mention of his mistress. “Oh, I’m still loads of fun. Let’s drop the heart talk for now,” he agreed, realizing that he had overwhelmed her. “Tell me about your time here. How has it been?”

An hour later, Big Cat emerged from the room, his demeanor now relaxed, but his face remained as composed as ever.

Clinton, who had been waiting patiently in the hallway, stepped forward as Big Cat approached. He couldn’t help but notice the presence of the godfather known as Big Cat.

The photos Clinton had seen didn’t do justice the imposing figure before him. Despite being in his sixties, Big Cat appeared in remarkable shape, with tattoos covering parts of his body not hidden by clothing. With his long silver hair tied in a neat knot at the nape of his neck, the man appeared robust and capable.

Definitely a mafia godfather, Clinton thought begrudgingly. “Sir, I’ll escort you back to the central living room where your security team is waiting,” he addressed, his voice maintaining a professional tone.

“No need for all the formalities, Clinton. You’re Clinton, right?”

“Yes, sir.”

“I’d like to see Kracus. Is that possible?”

“Of course, sir. Boss is currently occupied in his office, but I’ll check if you can see him.”

Big Cat nodded, and Clinton led him down the corridor to Kracus’s office. After a brief disappearance behind the office doors, Clinton returned to inform Big Cat that Kracus was willing to meet with him. Big Cat entered the spacious office, adorned with dark wood furniture and a view overlooking the mansion’s vast grounds.

Kracus sat behind a polished mahogany desk, engrossed in a phone call. His brow displayed concentration, but he acknowledged Big Cat’s presence with a nod and gestured for him to take a seat in one of the plush leather chairs on the opposite side of the desk.

As Big Cat settled into the chair, Clinton discreetly exited the room, closing the door behind him to ensure privacy.

“I understand, Dr. Ramirez,” Kracus said into the phone, his tone conveying empathy and reassurance. “I’ll arrange a meeting with the patient’s family to discuss the procedure and address any concerns they might have. We’re in this together, and I want them to have confidence in our care.”

Kracus concluded his call, shifting his gaze from the phone to Big Cat. “Big Cat,” he began, his voice holding a blend of respect and concern, “I hope you found Tesiera in good hands.”

“She’s alive, thanks to your people,” Big Cat replied. “We haven’t been formally introduced.” He stood up and extended his hand. “I’m Damian Solokov, but most people call me Big Cat.”

Kracus rose and shook Big Cat’s hand firmly. “I’m Kracussian Kingston.”

“Thank you for saving Tesiera’s life. That woman can be so stubborn. I’m grateful you and your team were there that night.”

Kracus chuckled. “No need to thank me. We will do everything we can to ensure her complete recovery.”

Big Cat nodded in acknowledgment, still standing. “I appreciate your hospitality, Mr. Kingston.” He glanced at his watch. “I can’t stay long; I have an appointment. I just wanted to express my gratitude.”

“I understand.”

Big Cat reached the door but turned back to Kracus with a parting statement, “My gratitude isn’t just for her injuries; it’s also for everything else, Mr. Kingston. Whatever you’re doing with her, please keep doing it. I’ve never seen her more full of life than since she started working for you. She’s as stubborn as they come, but I hope you won’t give up easily, Mr. Kingston.”

With those words, Big Cat walked out and closed the door quietly.

Kracus couldn’t help but wonder if Big Cat was encouraging him to maintain his relationship with his daughter. He hoped he was interpreting the man’s words correctly because, after almost losing Tesiera, he had no intention of giving her up without a fight.

He wanted a chance with her, to explore the connection they shared. He was willing to fight for what they had. Memories of the night Tesiera clung to him, pleading with him not to let her go, flooded his mind. Unlike before, he was now certain that Tesiera felt as deeply for him as he did for her.

However, he knew he couldn’t rush things. Tesiera was the type to flee if he advanced her too aggressively. He’d take a patient and steady approach.

But one thing was certain; Tesiera Rinderson is mine, even if she doesn’t know it yet. Kracus stated with conviction.
