REVENGE WITH LOVE : CHAPTER 21 – 30

CHAPTER 27 & 28.

A SEED PLANTED. A SEED NEEDED.

Three days later, Kracus stepped into the sterile operating room, his hands already scrubbed clean. The surgical team was already assembled and waiting for him, all dressed in their blue scrubs and masks.

Kracus approached the table where the patient lay, unconscious and covered in drapes. He looked over the scans and notes, making sure he had everything he needed.

“Let’s begin,” he said, nodding to the anesthesiologist. The machine beeped as the patient was put under, and Kracus picked up his scalpel.

The procedure was delicate, but Kracus was an expert. He worked carefully, slicing through the delicate tissue with precision. He was in the zone, focused solely on the task at hand.

Hours passed as he worked, sweat beading on his brow. He was almost done when he heard a beep from the machine. He looked up, his heart racing. The patient’s heart rate was dropping, and he was losing consciousness.

Kracus knew he had to act fast. He ordered the surgical team to get ready for an emergency bypass procedure, his mind racing as he tried to think of a solution.

Suddenly, an idea hit him. He asked for a scalpel and quickly made an incision, exposing the damaged blood vessel. He worked quickly, repairing the damage and getting the blood flowing again.

The patient stabilized, and Kracus breathed a sigh of relief. He finished the procedure, carefully closing up the incision and dressing the wound.

The patient was transferred to the ICU, and Kracus walked out of the operating room, exhausted but proud. He was greeted by Nurse Pattie. “Dr. Kracus, that was an amazing surgery,” she said, a smile on her face. “You saved that patient’s life.”

Kracus nodded, still feeling the adrenaline rush from the intense procedure. “It was a close call, but I’m glad it turned out okay,” he said.

“You’re truly a miracle worker,” Nurse Pattie said. “The patient’s family will be forever grateful for what you did for them today.”

Kracus smiled, feeling a sense of pride in his work. “It’s all in a day’s work,” he said. “But it’s always great to know that I made a difference in someone’s life.”

Nurse Pattie nodded, her smile still wide. “You sure did, and you do it every day. You’re a true hero, Dr. Kracus.”

REVENGE WITH LOVE : CHAPTER 21 – 30

Venus had come over to visit Tesiera in her home, or so it seemed.

She had been alone in the living room for hours, watching TV, and Tesiera hadn’t come out from wherever she was. Venus became worried and decided to go look for her. She switched off the television and got up from the couch, then began scanning the apartment.

As she passed by a corridor, she heard boxing sounds coming from one of the rooms. Venus paused and retraced her steps back to the room she was in. She opened the door to see Tesiera fully concentrated on boxing the red punching bag that hung from the ceiling.

Venus watched Tesiera as she continued to box, her body glistening with sweat. The tension Tesiera exuded was almost palpable.

Venus knew something must’ve gotten in the way of her mission when she didn’t hear anything on the news concerning the doctor billionaire’s death. She also knew Tesiera wouldn’t speak to her about it, so she’d asked Big Cat about it. He’d told her that in not so many words that it was a complicated mission because Tesiera’s target ended up being the wrong one.

The reminder made her wince. She knew how hard that can be.

“Do you want to talk about it?” Venus asked, her voice soft like a whisper.

“No,” Tesiera replied curtly without even granting Venus a glance. She continued to focus on her boxing.

Venus understood Tesiera and didn’t want to pressure her, so she turned around to leave. But on second thoughts, she paused.

“I’ve had the same experience,” Venus said.

Tesiera stopped punching and processed what Venus had said for a moment. “You have?” she asked.

Venus shrugged.

Tesiera knew Venus didn’t talk about herself, and her existence was shrouded in a fog of mystery. She turned around and looked at Venus now and she believed instantly, from the current look in her eyes, that she was telling the truth.

“If you don’t do something about it, the burden will only grow bigger, heavier. It will never get easy. You will feel the congestion here,” Venus said, touching her chest. “You’ll never be able to concentrate on future missions and you’ll question your every decision. The self-doubt, regret and guilt are the worst. If you don’t do anything about it, it will consume you.” She blinked, pushing the memories away.

Tesiera said nothing, she just stood there and watched the only friend she has.

Venus deemed it fit to leave now, so she turned around and started for the door.

“Is there a way to make it go away?” Tesiera asked in a quiet voice.

Venus paused her steps and turned away. You simply have to embrace that you made a mistake and move on,” Venus continued, watching as a mixture of emotions played across Tesiera’s eyes at that moment. “But the best way for you is to try and make up for the mistake.”

“Make up for it?”

Venus jerked her head once. “The best way is to make up for it, especially if you have being indebted to people. At the moment, you owe that doctor. Make up for it somehow. It’ll make you feel better if you do something good for the person you hurt. It’s like an atonement for sins of some sort.”

Again, Tesiera simply stared. Nevertheless, Venus continued speaking anyway.

“A man like him must have a lot of enemies, threats to his life. Why not eliminate one of his enemies for him? Or work for him for a few weeks or a month? You almost killed him, twice, so save his life this time around. That is the best way to appease your aching conscience,” Venus finished, and she could see the wheels turning in Tesiera’s mind as she considered the suggestion.

Tesiera was silent for a moment before she finally spoke up. “Thank you, Venus. I will think about it.”

Venus nodded before finally leaving the room.

REVENGE WITH LOVE : CHAPTER 21 – 30

Sir, we have successfully screened and tested thirty candidates for the bodyguard position. After conducting rigorous tests, we were able to narrow down to two top-notch individuals. They are the best.” Harvey reported to Kracus as they strolled down the dimly lit hallway that led to the training room in one of his secure houses.

“The best, huh?” Kracus raised his eyebrows inquisitively.

“Yes, sir. One has a black belt in karate and a military background, while the other has served in various organizations and won numerous accolades. I have personally observed their fighting abilities, and they are exceptional,” Harvey replied proudly.

Kracus halted at the door, and Harvey opened it for him. “I want to fight them,” Kracus declared, starting to remove his wristwatch.

Harvey was taken aback. The boss was known for his dislike of fighting and seldom got involved in it. “You will?” he was taken aback.

“If this bodyguard will be shadowing me every moment and invading my personal space, then I might as well test their capabilities myself. Besides, I need to let off some steam,” Kracus answered, tossing a glance over his shoulder at Harvey. “Have you ever seen me fight?”

“No, sir,” Harvey replied.

Bose and Clinton stood leaning against the door, arms crossed, eagerly anticipating the show. Although the boss rarely fought, they loved to watch him in action.

Kracus entered the training circle, and his eyes fixed on the two bodyguard candidates. They bowed their heads in respect, and he reciprocated the gesture. “From now on, I am not your boss, but an enemy. Give me your best shot because if I win, then you both failed,” Kracus challenged them.

“Roger that, sir,” they responded.

As soon as the fight commenced, Kracus moved with lightning speed, his movements smooth and precise. He easily dodged their attacks, countering with a series of punches and kicks that left the two men gasping for air.

Harvey watched in wonderment as Kracus displayed a level of grace and power he had never seen before. It was like watching a master at work, with every move calculated and lethal.

The two aspirants struggled to keep up with Kracus, their attacks becoming increasingly frantic as he pressed his advantage. With one swift move, he took both of them down simultaneously, his limbs moving so quickly that they were almost a blur.

In less than ten minutes, the fight was over, and Kracus stood in the center of the circle, breathing heavily. He turned to Harvey, a slight grin on his lips.

“That was remarkable,” Harvey exclaimed, still in awe of what he had just witnessed.

Kracus simply nodded, scanning the room with his eyes. “My watch,” he requested, and Harvey handed it to him.

After putting on his watch, Kracus turned to face Harvey. “You have to keep searching,” he instructed.

“Of course, sir,” Harvey replied dutifully.

“Cast your net wide this time, Harvey. Don’t limit yourself to one region; broaden your scope,” Kracus advised.

“I will keep that in mind, sir,”

As they made their way out of the room, Kracus couldn’t help but recall Tesiera Rinderson and the night of her attack. He replayed the moments when she displayed her extraordinary skills in his mind. She was an excellent fighter.

He turned back to glance at the two men still lying on the floor and shook his head. He knew that men like them would stand no chance against a woman like the Torturer.

That’s the kind of skill he needed.
