THE CURSE OF ALTVALL : CHAPTER 61 – 70

The Dawn of Divine Rescue

Long before the first light of dawn crept over Altvall Island, a presence stirred among the jagged stones of the western ravine.

When Bard, Thorne, and Kelzar believed they had left Jeun to die, they could not have known that this was precisely the moment the Superior Being had awaited.

An angel—brilliant and silent—descended upon the outskirt of the Island, its wings folding like shimmering blades of light.

With one graceful movement, it lifted Jeun’s small, bloodied form into its arms and vanished into the morning mist.

Beyond the veil of the mortal realm, the angel carried Jeun to the luminous halls of the Superior Being.

There, in a chamber of glowing crystal, priests and guardians waited to fortify the child.

For seven days, they bathed him in sacred waters and whispered ancient incantations, weaving layers of protection and strength around his spirit.

Each dawn, they marked the runes on his skin with silver dust; each dusk, they fed him ambrosia that hummed with celestial power.

By the seventh night, Jeun’s wounds had vanished, and his eyes shone with the promise of his destiny.

Back in the fortress, morning broke cold and harsh. In the royal apartments, Queen Audrey stirred from restless sleep.

She had slept barely an hour before, her dreams haunted by the memory of Jeun’s disappearance.

When she finally rose and found his bed empty, her heart seized in terror. Pillows lay tossed aside, blankets rumpled. No toy guarded the foot of the mattress. No soft breath whispered beside her.

Audrey’s scream echoed through the silent corridors as she tore from her chamber and burst into the hallway. “Guards! My son—Jeun—is gone!” she cried, voice cracking with panic.

Two heavy-booted sentries spun to attention, their hands on spear shafts.

In an instant, she was at Surganah’s antechamber, pounding on the carved oaken door. “Open! Tell him—my child is missing!”

The guard, pale-faced, hurried to fetch the Alpha.

Moments later, the door swung wide, and Surganah stood framed in darkness, the early light glinting off his dark armor.

His eyes blazed when he saw Audrey’s tear-streaked face. “What’s this?” he demanded, voice low and lethal.

“My son—Jeun—he’s vanished from his bed!” Audrey gasped. “He wasn’t there when I woke. Please—find him!”

In a heartbeat, Surganah’s fury ignited. He stepped forward, his presence swallowing the tiny antechamber in shadow. “Summon Bard,” he ordered the guard. “And every patrol from the courtyard to the cliffs. No corner of this fortress is safe until I have my son.”
