THE MISTRESS’ DAUGHTER : CHAPTER 1 – 10
Mistress Morwen swept into her room, her long, flowing hair billowing behind her. She was greeted by the sight of Maledicta sitting in the corner, her eyes closed.
“I told you not to sneak into my room anymore,” Mistress Morwen snapped, her voice stern.
Maledicta’s eyes flickered open, her gaze locking onto Mistress Morwen’s.
“Why did you call for me?” she asked, her voice neutral.
“What is the commotion going on in the school? Did I hear you brought a human here?” Mistress Morwen asked.
“If you heard already, why did you call me here to ask again?” Maledicta asked, her voice tinged with annoyance.
Mistress Morwen’s face fell, her eyes clouding with concern. “You know the implications of what you’ve done, Maledicta. We haven’t mingled with humans for over six hundred years, and now you’ve suddenly brought one here. What if the rumors spread to the town and the councils found out?” She asked worriedly.
Maledicta’s expression turned cold. “I don’t care,” she said, her voice flat.
Mistress Morwen’s eyes widened in shock.
“Wow, really? You’re going to return him right now. You could be punished by the Goddess for bringing someone from the future.” Mistress Morwen said.
Maledicta’s gaze didn’t waver. “Aren’t I being punished already? Carrying the curse of what I know nothing about. I don’t care about what your sweet Goddess thinks, but I’m not returning him.”she said.
Mistress Morwen’s face fell, her eyes filling with worry. “But what came over you, Maledicta? He has no power, he could be bullied. This place is dangerous.” She said.
“He is not to be touched.” Maledicta said.
Mistress Morwen’s eyes narrowed. “Maledicta, why are—”she was saying but Maledicta cut her off.
“He’s dying. This is the only way I could think of. I owe him my life.” She said calmly.
Mistress Morwen’s eyes widened in surprise.
“Are you telling me you care about his life?” She asked.
Maledicta didn’t respond. She just vanished into thin air, leaving Mistress Morwen staring at the empty space.
Mistress Morwen’s face broke into a smile. She was surprised, but also pleased. Maybe this human could be just what Maledicta needed.
The door suddenly opened, and Benedicta walked in.
“So is the boy going back? Were you able to convince her?” she asked, her eyes sparkling with curiosity.
Mistress Morwen’s smile grew wider. “I couldn’t, you know her.”
Benedicta’s face fell. “This is so bad. Why are you smiling, Mom?”
Mistress Morwen’s eyes twinkled. “That boy is special. I want him to stay.”
Benedicta’s eyes widened in surprise. “What, Mom? What about the—”she was saying But Mistress Morwen cut her off.
“Forget about them. Maledicta cares about him. She brought him here to save him.” Mistress Morwen said.
Benedicta’s eyes went wide. “Care? Maledicts care about someone? A human?” She asked.
Mistress Morwen’s smile grew wider. “Shocking, right? He might be of help to her. So we’re welcoming him. Prepare a very special room for him. He has to feel okay and satisfied.” Mistress Morwen said.
Benedicta’s face was still frozen in shock, but she nodded slowly. “Okay, Mom.”
As Benedicta left, Mistress Morwen’s smile grew even wider. She had a feeling that this human was going to change everything.
