THE MISTRESS’ DAUGHTER : CHAPTER 101 – 110

Mistress Morwen’s eyes widened in shock. “I sensed it too,” she said finally, accepting her suspicions.

“But it was shocking. I couldn’t believe it.” She said.

The elder’s expression turned grave. “But how is that possible? We killed the boy when he was just a boy. We burned him.” One of them said.

Mistress Morwen shook her head,

“That’s what I couldn’t understand,” she said.

“That child can’t live. We have to get rid of him.Remember, he killed his mother and all the workers in their house. He will ruin us if he is alive.” Another elder said.

The room fell silent, the weight of the elders’ words hanging in the air. Mistress Morwen knew what they were saying was true. Lucan was a threat to their world, and he had to be stopped.

Another elder spoke up, his eyes fixed on Mistress Morwen. “And that’s why it’s time. You have to tell your daughter the purpose she was born for. She has to kill him before he grows too strong to defeat.”

Mistress Morwen’s heart sank, her mind racing with doubts. How was she going to tell Maledicta all this? Her daughter would never forgive her.

“How am I going to tell her all this now?” Mistress Morwen asked, her voice laced with frustration. “And how are we going to find Lucan?”

The elders’ expressions turned stern. “He is in your school,” they said in unison. “We can sense him. Find him and get rid of him.”

With that, the elders vanished, leaving Mistress Morwen alone in her office. She slumped into her chair, her head in her hands.

“This is so complicated,” she said, her voice barely above a whisper. “How am I going to tell Maledicta all this? She will never forgive me.”

Mistress Morwen sat there for a long time, her mind racing with thoughts and doubts. She knew what she had to do, but she was afraid of the consequences.

Ryder stood outside his grandfather’s house, his heart racing with anxiety. He took a deep breath, trying to calm his nerves before entering the house.

As he stepped inside, he saw his grandfather sitting in the living room, just like the last time. His grandfather didn’t even look up, as if he knew Ryder was staring at him.

“Why are you here?” his grandfather finally asked, his voice low and gravelly, after several minutes of silence.

Ryder swallowed hard, his throat dry. “I…I stole the book you hid,” he said, his voice barely above a whisper.

His grandfather didn’t react, didn’t even open his eyes. “Why are you telling me now?” he asked, his voice devoid of emotion.

Ryder was taken aback by the question. “You knew?” he asked, his voice shaking slightly.

“Of course.”His grandfather muttered.

Ryder felt a wave of shame wash over him. “I’m sorry, Grandpa. I wasn’t thinking straight,” he said, his voice filled with regret. He knelt down in front of his grandfather, his head bowed in shame.

His grandfather finally opened his eyes, his gaze piercing. “Where is the book?” he asked.

Ryder hesitated before answering. “The girl I gave it to is dead, and I couldn’t find it. I think her killer might have it.” He said.

“You’ve ruined things, Ryder. I wanted that girl to live a normal life, a happy life. But you’ve ruined it.” He said.

Ryder felt a pang of guilt. “She didn’t have a happy life because she was cursed,” he said, trying to defend himself.

But his grandfather shook his head. “That’s what we want you all to believe. She’s a blessing, our hero.” He said.

Ryder’s eyes widened in surprise. “Then why is she like that?” he asked.

His grandfather’s expression turned somber. “Live like her, Ryder. Live alone, being deserted by people, being misjudged. And you’ll understand.” He said.
