As they left the dining hall, Lilith turned to Thane and Belladonna, her eyes wide with surprise.
“What was that?” she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
Thane chuckled, “Maledicta, just allowing the human boy to carry her,” he said.
Belladonna smirked, “The boy is interesting,” she said.
Cassius, on the other hand, stormed out of the dining hall, his face dark with anger. Benedicta watched him go.
Meanwhile, Maledicta was seething with rage, her face pale with fury.
“Drop me right now,” she yelled, her voice echoing off the walls.
Kaiden finally dropped her, and Maledicta’s feet hit the ground with a soft thud. She glared up at Kaiden, her eyes blazing with anger.
“Can we talk now?” Kaiden asked calmly.
“Bastard,” she spat, her hand flying up to slap Kaiden across the face.
Kaiden’s head rocked back, but he didn’t flinch. Instead, he watched as Maledicta vanished into thin air.
“She looks really angry,” Kaiden muttered to himself, his eyes narrowing in thought.
Just then, Ryder appeared at his side, he was glaring at him.
“What?” Kaiden asked, his eyebrows rising in surprise.
“Didn’t I warn you not to go near her? Did you hate your life?” Ryder snapped, his voice cold.
Kaiden shrugged, his expression calm. “I did, I just wanted to clear some misunderstandings.”
Ryder’s eyes widened in incredulity. “Clear things with Maledicta? Do you know the type of person she is? She could have killed you without thinking twice. You even carried her – the audacity!” Ryder scoffed.
“She’s not like you’re painting her to be. Though she’s quiet and reserved, she’s not heartless.” Kaiden said while glaring at Ryder.
Ryder’s laughter was cold and mirthless. “Wow, you think so? You’ll find out soon enough. I’m not going to stress myself.” Ryder said and started leaving.
“Where are you going?” Kaiden asked while running after him.
“To the training ground. We’re training with the seniors today.” Ryder said without looking at him.
Kaiden’s face lit up with excitement. “I’m coming with you, then.”
Ryder’s eyes widened in surprise. “You can’t. You don’t even have powers or much strength.” He said.
“I can still learn without powers. You don’t expect me to stay around without doing anything.” He said.
Ryder shrugged, a small smile playing on his lips. “Let’s go, then.”
Together, they followed the students streaming into the huge training ground.

Maledicta’s room was a reflection of her dark and troubled soul. The walls were devoid of any decoration, the only furniture a single bed positioned at the center of the room. The air was thick with the scent of dark roses, their velvety petals seeming to absorb the faint light that filtered through the windows.
A small bowl of water sat on the floor, its surface reflecting the faint glow of the candles that lit the room. As Maledicta lay on the bed, her eyes closed, the water began to stir, as if an invisible force was manipulating it.
The droplets of water started to float in the air, swirling around the room in a mesmerizing dance. Maledicta’s body began to rise from the bed, her limbs splayed out to the sides as she hovered in mid-air.
Her eyes remained closed, her face serene, as if she were in a state of deep meditation. But her mind was racing, her thoughts consumed by the events of the morning.
She had been drawn to the dining hall, compelled by a force she couldn’t explain. And when she saw Kaiden, she felt a jolt of… something. She couldn’t quite put her finger on it, but it was a feeling she hadn’t experienced in a long time.
