THE MISTRESS’ DAUGHTER : CHAPTER 11 – 20

(PUNISHMENT)

Mistress Morwen looked up from the ancient magic book she was studying, a look of exasperation crossing her face as Maledicta suddenly appeared in front of her.

“You will never listen to me, will you?” Mistress Morwen groaned, her voice tinged with frustration.

Maledicta’s eyes were blazing with intensity. “That boy, I want him back now. We can send him back, right?” she demanded.

“I’m sorry, girl, but I don’t think that’s possible.” Mistress Morwen said.

Maledicta’s face darkened. “What are you talking about? You wanted me to send him back, so what’s wrong?” she asked, her voice rising in frustration.

Mistress Morwen leaned back in her chair, a thoughtful expression on her face. “I’ve changed my mind, Maledicta. I think it’s good that we’re saving someone for a change.” She said.

“That’s not the reason. You know something, don’t you?” she accused, her voice dripping with suspicion.

“I have no idea what you’re talking about, Maledicta. I thought you wanted him to stay, so what’s changed?” Mistress Morwen said innocently.

Maledicta’s face twisted in anger. “He’s weird. He’s making me do things I would never do. My powers aren’t even working on him,” she spat.

“Oh, what a surprise,” Mistress Morwen said, her voice dripping with sarcasm.

Maledicta’s eyes flashed with anger. “You didn’t look that surprised, though. You must know what’s wrong with me. Explain all these new feelings now,” she demanded, her voice rising.

“I don’t know, Maledicta, but don’t you think that whatever it is, it’s something good?” she asked, her voice soft.

“I don’t care if it’s good or bad. I hate this feeling, and I want it to stop,” Maledicta spat angrily. With that, she stormed out of the room, slamming the door loudly behind her.

As she emerged into the corridor, she almost collided with Benedicta, who was walking in the opposite direction.

“Sister,” Benedicta called out, her voice excited, her face breaking out into a warm smile.

But Maledicta ignored her and started leaving.

“Are you okay? You didn’t look so good” Benedicta said while running after her.

“You can stop acting like you care. No one is around to see your two-faced act,” Maledicta muttered coldly and with that, she intentionally bumped into Benedicta, sending her stumbling backward.

Benedicta’s face was unreadable as she stared after Maledicta, her eyes following her sister until she was out of sight.

“Kaiden,” Ryder called gently, his voice breaking the silence of the night.

Kaiden turned to see Ryder approaching him, a look of concern etched on his face.

“You can’t be walking around alone, It’s not safe.” Ryder said.

“I just need fresh hair” He muttered while staring at the ground, he couldn’t seem to forget Maledicta expression when he was yelling at her.

“So you really went after her?” Ryder asked after sometimes.

Kaiden nodded, his eyes still fixed on the ground. “Of course, I had to let her know what she did was wrong.” He said.

“She didn’t kill for nothing, Kaiden. She could have hurt people, but she didn’t kill. So when she killed that girl over something so minor, we were all shocked.” Ryder said.
