THE MISTRESS’ DAUGHTER : CHAPTER 131 – 140

Belladonna was walking around in another part of the forest, enjoying the peaceful atmosphere, when someone suddenly touched her back. She turned around, ready to defend herself, and saw Cassius standing behind her.

“What are you doing?” she scoffed, trying to hide the surprise from her voice.

Cassius smiled and presented her with a beautiful bouquet of flowers.

“For my lady,” he said, his eyes shining with sincerity.

Belladonna didn’t say anything, just turned to leave. But as she walked away, she couldn’t help but smile. She had expected Cassius to follow her, to try and persuade her to talk to him. But instead, he just stood there, watching her walk away.

She turned back to see him walking slowly, staring at the flowers in his hand.

“Where are you going?” she asked while walking closer to him.

Cassius looked up, his eyes meeting hers. “To the room,” he muttered.

Belladonna felt a pang of disappointment. She had thought that maybe, just maybe, Cassius was finally going to make a move, to try and win her back. But instead, he just seemed to be giving up.

“I thought you were planning to hang out with me,” she said, trying to keep her tone light.

Cassius looked up at her, his eyes filled with sadness. “I was, but it seems that you don’t want me to. Why can’t you just see my sincerity, Belladonna? I know I offended you, but I keep trying. But you don’t seem to think of my effort.”

Belladonna felt a pang of guilt. She knew that Cassius was trying, that he was genuinely sorry for what he had done. But she was still hurt, still afraid of getting hurt again.

“You hurt me too,” she said, her voice barely above a whisper.

“You told me that nothing would ever happen between us. Have you forgotten all that?” She added.

Cassius looked down, his eyes filling with tears.

“It’s my fault,” he said, his voice cracking.

“I guess I have to suffer from you then. I just feel so hurt. I am sorry, Belladonna. It’s okay if you decide not to ever forgive me again. I totally deserve it.” He said.

Belladonna felt her heart melt at Cassius’s words. She knew that he was genuinely sorry, that he was willing to do anything to make things right between them.

She quickly went to hug him from the back.

“I have forgiven you,” she said, her voice filled with emotion. “And I still love you. I am just afraid.” She said.

Cassius turned to face her, his eyes filled with hope. “Why are you afraid?” he asked.

Belladonna took a deep breath. “It’s because you want me when I change. I was afraid you will change again if I give you attention.

I thought you might hate me again. That’s why I decided to continue that way, maybe you will keep wanting me.” She said gently.

Cassius’s face filled with understanding. “I will never do that again,” he said, his voice filled with conviction. “You mean a lot to me, and I love you so much.”

Belladonna smiled sadly. “I am sorry for treating you like you are nothing.” She said.

Cassius’s eyes filled with tears. “I should be the one apologizing. I didn’t even deserve you.” He said.
