THE MISTRESS’ DAUGHTER : CHAPTER 21 – 30
Finally, after what felt like an eternity, Maledicta fell asleep, her chest rising and falling with a soft, gentle rhythm.
Cassius held her palm, staring at her pale, dry face. He couldn’t help but think about what had happened earlier, about how Kaiden had run into the rain to save her.
A surge of anger boiled up inside him, and he felt his face grow hot with rage. Why did it have to be the human boy who had saved her? Why couldn’t it have been him?
He had been with Maledicta for what felt like forever, and he had always been drawn to her. He was an alpha prince, and he knew that he was meant to be with her.
But Belladonna was his mate, and he didn’t care about her. He only cared about Maledicta, and he would do anything to make her his.
He wouldn’t let the human boy ruin things for him. He was going to find out what the boy was, and then he was going to get rid of him for good.
Cassius’s hand moved to Maledicta’s cheeks, his fingers tracing the contours of her face. He closed his eyes, imagining them making out, his fingers brushing against her lips. He open his eyes and stare at her lips.
The lips looked so tempting, so red and attractive. Cassius felt himself leaning in, his lips inches from Maledicta’s.
But just as he was about to kiss her, Maledicta’s eyes suddenly snapped open. Cassius flew backward, his body moving with a speed and agility. He quickly balanced himself, preventing himself from hitting the wall. Maledicta sprang up from the bed, her eyes wild and disoriented.
“What am I doing here?” she asked, looking around the room in confusion.
Cassius smiled, trying to appear nonchalant. “I saved you in the rain,” he said.
“I couldn’t take you to your room because of the shield at your door, so I brought you here. You were sick, so I took care of you throughout the night.” He said.
Maledicta’s expression turned cold, her eyes narrowing.
“Next time, you can drop me at my door.” She said and started leaving.
Cassius’s smile faltered, but he quickly regained his composure.
“Not even a thank you?I couldn’t sleep all night because of you.” He said while going after her.
Maledicta ignored him and went out of his room Cassius watched her go and smiled to himself.
As he turned and walked back to his room, Belladonna emerged from her hiding place, her eyes fixed on Maledicta’s departing back.
Her heart was rising and falling with anger, her eyes blazing with a fierce and burning hatred.
“I hate her so much,” she spat, her teeth gritted in rage.
Tears pricked at the corners of her eyes, but she quickly blinked them away. She wouldn’t cry, not now, not ever. she turn off toward the opposite direction.

THE NEXT DAY
Kaiden stood in front of Maledicta’s door, his eyes scanning the empty corridor. He had been waiting for what felt like an eternity.
Just as he was starting to wonder if Maledicta was even in her room, her voice cut through the silence.
“What did you want?” she asked, her tone neutral.
