THE NEXT DAY

Kaiden slowly opened his eyes, groggily taking in his surroundings. He was met with an unfamiliar room, the darkness making it difficult for him to see. He rubbed his eyes, trying to clear the haze.

As his eyes adjusted to the darkness, he realized that he wasn’t in his own room. Panic set in as he tried to remember how he had gotten there. He tried to stand up, but something was holding him down.

That’s when he realized someone was sleeping on his shoulder. He gasped as he saw Maledicta’s face, her eyes closed in sleep. He quickly pushed her away, standing up from the bed.

“What am I doing here?” he asked, his voice shaking slightly.

Maledicta stirred, opening her eyes to gaze up at Kaiden.

“I should be the one asking you that question,” she muttered. “You suddenly showed up in my room last night. I tried to wake you up, but you didn’t budge.”

Kaiden’s eyes widened in surprise. “How is that even possible?” He asked in confusion.

“I was in shock too,” she said.

“You’re human, right? So, how did you…do it?” She asked with raise eyebrows.

“What are you talking about?” Kaiden asked.

“You suddenly appear in my room” She said.

“You called him to your room, you called his name last night, remember?”A voice whisper to her But she shrugged it off, not wanting to believe it.

Kaiden looked down at the floor, his face flushing with shame. “I’m sorry, I must have sleepwalked.”

“Just leave.” Maledicta said coldly.

Kaiden turned to leave, but suddenly stopped.

“How did you manage to sleep in a room like this?” he asked, his eyes scanning the dark, dingy space.

Maledicta’s eyes snapped up, her expression defensive. “What are you talking about?”

Kaiden gestured to the room. “When I woke up this morning, I thought I was being buried alive. This is not a nice place, it’s dark and creepy. I think it would be cool to make some adjustments.” He said.

Maledicta’s face twisted in a scowl. “You can’t tell me what to do, just get out.” She snapped.

Kaiden shrugged, a small smile playing on his lips. “Have a nice day, then.” He said.

He turned and left the room, leaving Maledicta to her thoughts. She lay back in bed, her mind racing with questions.

“Did I really call him here last night?” she wondered, a sense of frustration building inside her.

She groaned, throwing her arm over her eyes. She didn’t know what was going on, but she knew she didn’t like it.

Kaiden walked through the corridor, lost in thought. He was still trying to process the events of the previous night, and how he had ended up in Maledicta’s bed.

As he turned a corner, he heard a voice behind him. “Where are you coming from?”

Kaiden turned to see Benedicta standing behind him, a look of curiosity on her face.

“Hey Benedicta, good morning,” Kaiden said, trying to sound cheerful.

But Benedicta didn’t return his greeting. Instead, she narrowed her eyes and said, “You didn’t answer my question.”

Kaiden hesitated, unsure of how to respond. He didn’t want to lie to Benedicta, but he also didn’t want to tell her the truth – that he had somehow magically ended up in Maledicta’s bed.

“I went to see a senior,” Kaiden said finally, trying to sound nonchalant. “I’m on my way back.”

“I saw you coming out of my sister’s room,” she said.
