THE MISTRESS’ DAUGHTER : CHAPTER 31 – 40
Kaiden groaned and stood up, rubbing the sleep from his eyes. Someone was knocking at his door, and he wondered who it could be.
He reached under his bed and pulled out the sword that Thane had given him, holding it at the ready as he approached the door.
He slowly opened the door, his heart pounding in his chest. But to his surprise, it wasn’t a monster or a demon standing on the other side. It was Maledicta, her eyes gleaming in the dim light.
Kaiden’s eyes widened in surprise as he drop the sword.
“What are you doing here?” he asked, trying to hide his confusion.
Maledicta stammered, her eyes darting back and forth. “I…just…I want to…” she trailed off, looking like she was struggling to find the right words.
She couldn’t believe she was nervous, this have never happened to her before, she is always bold.
“You can tell me,” Kaiden said with a smile.
“Can I…sleep in your room?” she suddenly asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
Kaiden’s eyes went wide with surprise.
“What?” he asked, trying to process what she was asking.
Maledicta looked up at him, her eyes pleading. “I just really need to sleep right now, and a rain is about to start. You told me to stay with you when rain is about to fall.” She said.
Kaiden’s face went blank, and he just stared at her, unsure of what to say. He hadn’t expected her to ask something like that, and he wasn’t sure how to respond.
Maledicta’s face fell, and she turned to leave. “This is stupid, I shouldn’t have said that to you. Please forget that I said it.”
But Kaiden quickly grabbed her hand and dragging her back inside. He closed the door behind her and leaned against it, his eyes locked on hers.
“I’d like that too,” he said, his voice low and husky.
Maledicta’s eyes widened in surprise, and she tried to pull her hand away. But Kaiden held tight, his fingers wrapping around her wrist like a vice.
He pulled her closer, his eyes burning with intensity.
“I’d like you to sleep here,” he said again.
Maledicta’s face went pale, and she looked like she was about to faint. But Kaiden just smiled and scooped her up in his arms, carrying her over to the bed.

Kaiden smiled and moved closer to Maledicta. “We could share the bed, I’ll just give you enough space,” he said, trying to reassure her.
Maledicta didn’t say anything, but she lay down beside him, her eyes fixed on his face. Kaiden could feel her gaze on him, but he didn’t mind. He was used to her intense stare.
As they lay there, a loud thunderstorm rolled in, causing the sky to darken and the wind to pick up. Maledicta closed her eyes, her body tensing up with fear.
But Kaiden was there to comfort her. He moved closer, his body warm and reassuring. “See, you’ll be okay,” he said softly. “You don’t have to worry.”
