Arachne’s face fell, but she just smile.
“So, what are you reading?” she asked, trying to peek at the book.
Ryder’s expression turned cold. “None of your business.”
Arachne’s face turned bright red, and she looked away.
“You’re so rude,” she scoffed, getting up and storming out of the library.
Ryder watched her go, a mixture of guilt and annoyance on his face. He shook his head and went back to reading his book, trying to forget the awkward encounter.

“Mistress Morwen wants us to keep this at the storage room, and this at the library,” Cassius said, pointing at the various items in the office.
Belladonna gazed at the piles of boxes and books, her eyes widening in dismay.
“This is a huge task. We’ll have to pair ourselves up to get it done.” She said.
“I’ll go to the library. Who’s coming with me?” Cassius asked, looking around at the others.
“She’s coming with you. I’m going with Lilith.”Thane quickly spoke up, pushing Belladonna gently towards Cassius.
Lilith raised an eyebrow, but Thane quickly helped her lift her load, and they set off towards the storage room.
“What are you doing?”Lilith asked.
Thane glanced at her sideways. “We should give them some privacy. They need to talk things out. Can’t you see that?” He asked.
“Did I look like I care?”Lilith scoffed.
Thane’s expression turned wry. “That’s why you’ll never have a partner. You know nothing about romance.” He said.
Lilith’s face flushed with anger. “You’re so rude. I hate your guts. Your brother is better than you in everything.” She said.
Thane’s eyes clouded over, and he looked away, his voice barely above a whisper.
“Thank you for reminding me.” He muttered.
Lilith’s eyes widened in surprise, and she reached out to touch Thane’s arm.
“I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have said that.” She said.
Thane didn’t respond, but instead quickened his pace, Lilith struggling to keep up with him. They soon arrived at the storage room, and Thane dropped his load with a thud.
Lilith followed suit, and then stood before Thane, her eyes locked on his.
“I’m sorry, okay? You just keep finding me trouble, I couldn’t help myself.” She said.
Thane’s expression was unreadable, but he started moving closer to Lilith, his eyes fixed on hers. Lilith backed away, her heart racing with anticipation.
“What are you doing?” she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
Thane didn’t respond, but instead reached out to touch her face. Lilith’s eyes fluttered closed, her heart pounding in her chest.
Thane’s fingers brushed against her hair, removing a stray cotton thread.
“Are you expecting a kiss?” Thane asked with a smirk. Lilith’s eyes snapped open, her face flushing with embarrassment.
