“What are you trying to say, Viva?”

“What I am trying to say, Dad, is that Zinedine is not the only powerful person that I know. I have got this.”

“Viva, that doesn’t stop him from coming to me. I am sure he must have told his father already and would call at any moment.” Hardly had he finished his words when his phone, which had miraculously survived his tight grip, rang and when he saw who was calling his anxiety returned and he showed his daughter.

“Pick up the call Dad, if you don’t he will think whatever his son had told him is true.” Viva said to him.

Picking it up before it cuts and he puts it on the loudspeaker. “Osiris.” he began but was cut short by the other man.

“Is it true?” The voice at the end of the phone demanded.

“True that what?” Romulus asked, deciding to play dumb until Osiris hit the nail on the wall.

“Romulus don’t beat around the bush, why did you send Leo to follow my son?” Osiris asked.

“…” Alpha Romulus opened his mouth to reply when Osiris spoke again.

“I need the truth.” He said.

Viva gave him a sign to hold on from replying as she went around her room to find a book and pen which she got and quickly jotted down some things on it.

Meanwhile, Alpha Romulus was buying time uttering. “The truth…the truth.”

Soon his daughter gave him what she wrote.

“Romulus if you say that ‘the truth’ once again I will be ending this call and coming there myself to kick your arse because it means my son is saying the truth.”

“I’m sorry Osiris, well the truth is,” Alpha Romulus said, clearing his throat as he began saying what was written on the paper. “It’s true I asked Leo to follow Zinedine because I was scared he was going to come back and attack me.

So I had Leo follow him to monitor all his movements for today so that once he is heading towards my house I will be informed and will leave before he arrives. That’s all.”

“Hmm.”

“Is that now bad?” Romulus asked. “I was just trying to save my head from your son’s beating, not every wolf has a strong son like you so that was my only way.”

“You should have told me that you still think Zinedine will come for you Romulus, I would have talked him out of it and believe me he won’t come for you again unless you deliberately provoke him.”

“I didn’t know. I am an Alpha just like you Osiris and it’s embarrassing to me to seek for your help.” he lied.

“Romulus you should have set your ego aside and thought this through. Now your ego has cost you the life of your gamma. You know following any of your wolves in the pack means a threat and if caught death straight away.”

“What? Leo is dead? He is one of the strongest Gamma in my pack.”

“Yes I was surprised as you are, I will ask him to tell me where he kept the body so that Leo can be properly buried, it’s the least I can do for you as it is and I will follow Zinedine to talk in favor of you, okay?”

“Thank you so much Osiris, you are truly a friend.” Romulus thanked and once his call ended he returned his gaze to his daughter “How did you come up with something so convincing?” he asked.

Viva shrug. “It just came to me Dad.” She replied with a grin on her face.

“I’m glad Osiris believed that lie, now what are we going to do?”

“Just leave everything to me Dad.”
