Alora and Teagan stopped what they were doing and blinked as they watched what was in front of them.
An old woman with gray hair held a sword to Samira’s abdomen as Samira held onto the old woman’s neck and turn fully to face her.
Alora began to say a spell.
“Say any word further or do anything stupid and I will cut her into two before your spell reaches me.” the old woman threatened making Alora paused.
“I would have strangled you to death before your sword cut through me.” Samira said with gritted teeth.
Teagan and Alora were helpless and didn’t know what to do but to their astonishment, the old woman removed her sword from Samira and the ex-assassin removed her hand from her wrinkled neck. They both began to laugh and hug each other.
“I don’t understand, do you know each other?” Teagan was the first to ask as she breathed in relief that the threat they were facing was gone.
The old lady chuckled and nodded her head. “Yes, I wanted to see if my assassin hasn’t rusted after all these years as she is now with her mate and child.” she smiled at them. “I’m Mirabel, the owner of this building.” She introduced herself.
“For a second I thought your name would be scary or ancient since you own this library and not just simple Mirabel,” Alora said with a smile of her own. “I’m-”
The old lady raised one of her hands up to stop Alora from saying anything further. “Alora, I know your name and what you are.” She said to the witch who widened her eyes. “But I know you are not here just for them to introduce themselves to me, right?” she added, facing Samira who nodded her head, confirming Mirabel was right.
The old lady gestures for them to follow her.
“We came here to know more about the Equinox and when it’s happening and how it concerns my son and husband. According to my friend here, Teagan, it will put them to sleep on that day.” Samira revealed why they were there. “Please, I have high hopes for you and I know you are the only person who could help me to explain what Equinox is to my understanding.” she added.
The old woman reached one of her bookshelves and was searching for something.
“Did you say Equinox?”
“Yes, a few nights ago I saw a vision of a man who said the words ‘Equinox and war’ and then was gone and I came here and told Samira and now we are here” Alora explained.
“And somehow it is connected to the demon living with them,” Teagan said. “I was told the demon came to kidnap Hiro but didn’t succeed.”
“Hiro?” Mirabel question.
“That’s my son, Mirabel, somehow he is also connected to this bloody red moon and I want to know why would someone send a demon after my son.”
“Teagan, you are right about one thing though,” Mirabel said as she finally saw the book she was looking for.
She turned around and saw the three ladies staring at her. “The demon you spoke off has a connection to the Equinox because a demon’s blood will be used to unlock the gate of the Equinox.”
“It-it has a gate?” Samira stammered.
Mirabel nodded her head and gave Samira the book in her hands. “That is why the forthcoming one is very dangerous.”
