The loud banging at the door was what woke Adelaide up from her sleep, she was just sleeping because everything that happened last night hadn’t left her head. She knows there is something that her husband had heard about her and she was too afraid to ask him.
She went to open the door and saw her mother in law with a lady she was not familiar with.
“Morning” she greeted but the woman just looked at her from head to toe, the lady too had a disgusted look on her face.
“What time is it now?” The woman finally asked.
“It’s a minute past 4”Adelaide said after checking the time.
“Aren’t you supposed to be in the kitchen, cooking for the family?” Mrs Everest said angrily.
“So sorry, no one told me about that,” she said nervously.
“Oh do you think you will come here and start living like a princess?” Mrs Everest asked.
“No ma’am “ she quickly said.
“Good, go to the main mansion kitchen, you will see the maid, make something nice for the whole family, I want it to be done by you” Mrs Everest said.
“Okay mother” Adelaide said and started going immediately.
“Don’t call me mother” she heard Mrs Everest’s voice behind her.

“She is weaker than I thought,” Jasmin said with a smile.
“Yeah, it will be easy to get rid of her, I don’t want a riff raff like her in our family” Mrs Everest said.
“Thank you mum” Jasmine said and hugged her.
“First, we have to make the whole family hate her, then the rest will be simple,” Mrs Everest said.
“I can’t wait to marry Noah,” Jasmine said.
“Me too” daughter in law” Mrs Everest said as they both walked away.

Adelaide enters the big wide kitchen and all the maid bow in respect.
“What are you doing here Ma’am?” One of them asked.
“I am cooking for the family” she said and they all gasp.
“None of the Everests is allow to enter the kitchen, we can do everything ourselves” the girl said again.
“I insist, I really know how to cook” she said and went to watch her hand.
“Okay miss” the three maids said and walked closer to her.
“So what are we cooking?” she asked gently. They brought the list and she smiled. The maid watches in awe as she cooks the food very carefully.
“So what are your names?” she asked them with a smile.
“I am Stacy,” the youngest among them said.
“I am Emma and this is Sandy,” the other maid introduced.
“Nice to meet you, how is this cooking word?” She asked since Mrs Everest didn’t tell her anything.
“The family eat breakfast together before each went to work but dinner is different because they didn’t return home at the same time” Stacy said.
“Does that mean I only prepared food for my husband and kid?” She asked.
“Yeah, since the others might have eaten out, we don’t usually cook dinner, anyone that needs food calls the maid to request for it,” Stacy said. Adelaide notices that the other maid doesn’t want to talk to her, maybe they hate her too. She started dishing the food while they watched her.
“Arrange the table, I have to prepare Emily for school” she said and they nodded as they walked out of the kitchen. She arrives back at the mansion and meets Noah at the door.
“Good morning” she greeted but he ignored her totally and went out. She sighed and went into Emily’s room, she was still sleeping, so she woke her up gently and took her to the bathroom, she bathed her and styled her hair.
“Thank you so much, ” Emily said while looking at herself.
“Do you like it?” Adelaide asked.
“I love it, I can’t wait to show my friend my new hairstyle” she said. Adelaide grabbed her bag and they both went to the main mansion, everyone was sitting round the table already but they all looked up to stare at her, she walked nervously and sat beside Francisco.
“Why are you just coming?” Mr Everest asked.
“I am sorry, I have to prepare Emily for school” Adelaide said.
“You have to manage your time, now you can all eat, ” Mr Everest said and they all brought out their cutlery because they had been waiting for her.
“Wow, are you the one that prepares this food?” Mr Everest asked Stacy after taking a spoonful.
“No it was young Mistress, “ Stacy said from where she was standing.
“You prepared this?” Mr Everest asked in surprise.
“Yeah” Adelaide said.
“Wow I am impressed, you are really a good cook” Mr Everest smiled.
“It’s so delicious, sister-in-law, “ Autumn said. Jasmine rolled her eyes angrily. Mrs Everest wasn’t happy too, she was expecting the food to come out bad.
“Why were you cooking?” Noah suddenly asked.
“It’s true, why are you in the kitchen? The maid can do everything” Nicholas said, which shocked everyone.
“I just love cooking,” she said.
“That’s good, I can’t wait to taste it” Mr Everest said while looking at her proudly.
“I am learning from you,” Autumn said and snapped her food.
“So when are you going back to your house, remember the wedding is over” Mr Everest suddenly asked jasmine.
“That will be today,” Jasmin said.
“Good, I know you have better work to do right?” Mr Everest asked.
“Yeah” Jasmine said angrily. The breakfast was over and everyone started going to their workplace, Adelaide came out with Emily and meet Fransisco outside.
“You look so cute, do well in college” she smiled.
“Where are you going?” He asked.
“I have to take Emily to school,” she said.
“So what’s wrong, you look weird, do you cry?” He asked.
“No no no, why would I, I am fine okay, maybe it was because I slept late last night” she quickly said.
“Are you sure?” Francisco asked with raised eyebrows.
“Yeah, so don’t worry about me and focus on school” she said.
“Hope in, I am taking you to school” Autumn said as her car stopped beside them.
“Take care of yourself” Fransisco said before joining Autumn in the car and they left. A car suddenly stopped beside them and when the glass was rolled down it was Nicholas.
“Come on in, let me take you guys to school” he smiled.
“It’s okay, we can take other cars, there are hundreds of them, I don’t want to inconvenience you,” Adelaide said.
“Say who, come in sister in-law” he said and Adelaide smiled before joining him in the car, their car took off immediately.
“Emily” Nicholas called and she smiled cutely. They arrived at the school and Emily came out of the car, her friend joined her immediately and started touching her hair.
“It’s so pretty, how I wish mum could do this for me too,” a girl pouted.
“Who did it for you?” Another person asked.
“Someone special” she said and waved at their car before going to her class, the girls ran after her.

“You can call me, when you want to pick her up later in the afternoon, I am not busy” Nicholas smiled.
“I can just call one of the drivers,” she quickly said.
“I insist” he said while looking at her face, she was just so beautiful and calm.
“Okay then I will” she said and looked at her hand.
“You have to be free with me, I know we don’t know each other that much but I really want to be your friend, is that okay?” He asked.
“Yeah” she said nervously.
“So that Mrs Everest, my and Delaney’s mother, Noah and Autumn’s mother , died five years ago” he said.
“Oh really, “ Adelaide said. And the remaining drive was silent as Adelaide couldn’t stop thinking about her husband’s weird behavior.

The student surrounded the car immediately they got into the college, Delaney came out of their car and her fans started throwing compliments at her. She smiles at them.
“Wow, didn’t know she always smiles this much,” Fransisco said while looking at her.
“Who is beside Autumn?
“He is so hot, I think I am in love already.
“Look at his tattoo, I am getting wet already.
“Autumn looks so cute, that skirt is so sexy, the fans throw different compliments as they walk through the crowd of students.
“You are so hot” Fransisco whispered to Delaney ear but she ignored him like always.
“I told you she is like that, she will take to you when she loosen up” Autumn said.
“I am an impatient man, so I can’t wait, I will force her if I have to,” Fransisco said and ran after Delaney.
“He left me yet again” she pouted and started going and an arm wrapped around her neck immediately.
“Stacy?” She called and she smiled at her. They act like they are not close at home because of their status but they are best friends in school.
“I miss not talking to you for the whole weekend, I think we should start sneaking at home” Stacy pouted.
“Don’t worry, you can come to my room tonight, let’s chill” Autumn said.
“Yippee, can’t wait” she said excitedly as they look at Francisco who was surrounded by many girls.
“He is really popular now,” Autumn said.
“Yeah, he is hot too,” Stacy said.
“Do you have a crush on him?” Autumn asked.
“Nah, you know my crush,” Stacy said with red cheeks.
“That can never be possible,”Autumn said.
“Who knows?” Stacy said before hopping away.

“Dad is coming late now” Emily said and joined Adelaide on the bed.
“Maybe he is always busy now, he will soon be here” Adelaide said.
“I enjoy the story of that day, can you tell me another one please?” Emily asked.
“Sure, I am gonna tell you the story of a ugly duckling who turns into a beautiful swan,” Adelaide said and Emily lay her head on her lap.
“So once upon a time, there was a girl, called ugly duckling because of her look. She was very kind and nice to people around her. She has always had one wish and that is to become a beautiful swan but all her wishes weren’t granted. She was rejected by a lot of people and was also avoided. One day, she visited the garden at the back of her house, then she saw a cute little mouse tangled up in a rope. She managed to release the mouse and was shocked when it suddenly talked to her.
“How can you speak?” She asked in shock. Adelaide smiles when she sees that Emily is already asleep. She adjusted her well on the bed and stood up. She went to take her bath and wanted to join her on the bed when she suddenly felt thirsty so she went to the sitting room to get a bottle of water.

“What are you doing here?” Noah asked angrily when he saw Jasmine already waiting for him.
“I know you are still angry, but can you forgive me? I really love your kid and I will make sure we get along,” she pleaded desperately.
“What are you even saying, don’t you know that I am married, we can’t work together, so just go” Noah said.
“Married to who exactly? That sl*t, I know you don’t like her, you can just divorce her and we will walk out” jasmine said.
“You don’t tell me what to do with my marriage” Noah scoffed before entering the mansion.
“Noah” she called and ran after him, Noah got to the sitting room and met Adelaide drinking water, she quickly dropped the bottle and smiled at him.
“You came very late and I prepared your food, I can microwave it for you if you want” she said but he just ignored her and entered their room.
“You are trying so much sl”t, but he will never look at you” Jasmin said and went to sit on the couch comfortably. Adelaide entered their room and saw Noah already changed.
“So who is that?” She asked before she could stop herself.
“That shouldn’t be your business, or can’t I bring my girlfriend home anymore?” He asked coldly.
“Your girlfriend?” She muttered.
“Yeah, we would have had fun in this room but I respect our matrimonial bed, so you can have it all to yourself, we will take the guest room” Noah said and left. Adelaide sighs and sits on the bed.
“I won’t let this get to me, I wasn’t expecting more to our marriage before right, not like something is between us” she encouraged herself so as to prevent the tears that almost fell from her eyes.
