UNEXPECTED KNOT : CHAPTER 81 – 90

“Sister in-law” Nicholas called as soon as the driver took Emily to school.
“Good morning” Adelaide smiled at him.
“I can take you to work,” he said while pointing at his car.
“I don’t know” she said and looked around hoping to get a glimpse of Noah but he wasn’t around. She was not even sure if he was still around or he had left already.
“It’s been long since we discussed, please let me take you, we can catch up” Nicholas said.
“Okay” she said, though she doesn’t feel like going. He smiles and grabs her hand but she stylishly releases herself and follows him to the car. He opened the door for her and she was about to enter when someone suddenly grabbed her hand. She looked at the person and it was Noah, he wasn’t smiling which made her afraid.
“I will like to take my wife with me if you don’t mind” he said and glared at Nicholas who was also returning the glaring.
“She thought you had left, that’s why she wanted to follow me,” Nicholas said.
“Thanks for your explanation, but I know that I am not like that, so I can’t leave without my wife,” Noah said. Adelaide was just watching the two brothers in confusion, she didn’t even know what to do.
“Okay then, you can take her” Nicholas said with a frown and watched as Noah took her to his car, he watched till the car drove out of sight. He folded his fist in anger. The fact that Noah always has everything he wants makes him so mad.
“You are going to pay for this, I will make sure I wipe the smile off your face” he thought and turned but his breath almost left when he saw Stacy behind him, she was smiling broadly.
“Why did you sneak on me like that?” He asked annoyingly.
“I didn’t, I just don’t want to disturb you since you are thinking about something” she smiled.
“What do you want?” He asked.
“Please take me to school” she said and he looked at her with raised eyebrows.
“What is that supposed to mean? Did I look like a driver?” He asked.
“No, Autumn left and I don’t want to take a taxi so please, take me to school” she said and bowed her head dramatically.
“I will never do that” he scoffed and started going to grab his shirt.
“Don’t touch me” he snapped and she quickly let go of his shirt.
“Please master Nicholas, I am almost late for my first lecture, I know you are a nice person “ she said.
“You are totally wrong, I can be your worst nightmare “ he said seriously.
“That’s just a cover up, I know deep down that you are a nice person “ she said again and he scoffed. She stood there while waiting for his answer, he entered his car and started the engine.
“ I give you five seconds to get in or else, I am not going again “ he said.
“Thank “ she said happily and ran into the car. He started driving and she kept looking at his face.
“Stop looking at me and focus on the road” he said without looking at her.
“I am not the one driving so I can keep looking at you as much as I want” he said. He sighed and didn’t say anything again. They drove into the school compound and she came down, she was just waving at him till he drove out.
“Why did I even agree to carry her?” Nicholas questioned himself and scoffed loudly.
“Is that my brother’s car, why will he bring the maid to school, I don’t think he is the one” Delaney said. Stacy was grinning as she went to class, she was happy that Noah agreed to bring her to school, at least that means they are making progress.
She went to join all her friends. They are in Autumn class since lectures have not started yet.
“Where are you, why didn’t I see you when I was coming?” Autumn asked.
“I am late but master Nicholas brought me to school “ she said.
“Really? That handsome man?” Brielle asked.
“Yeah “ she said and blushed.
“You look so happy, “ Brielle said.
“He is her crush” Autumn said and they all looked at Stacy who was blushing, Delaney came to join them immediately without greeting anybody.
“Should I ask her now?” Dalton whispered to Francisco and he nodded with a smile.
“Autumn, please will you go on lunch date with me?” Dalton asked. Autumn looked at Francisco and he gave her go ahead, she smiled slightly and nodded her head.
“Thank you so much” Dalton smiled happily, Stacy was grinning, Delaney was glaring at Autumn but Brielle didn’t have any emotions.
“Will you go on lunch date with me too, we can double date” Francisco asked and looked at Delaney. She wanted to reject him but she remembers they are going with Dalton which means she will be close to him, so she agrees.
“I will go with you” Delaney smiles.
“Really?” Francisco asked in surprise, he wasn’t even expecting her to agree.
“Yeah” she smiled, Francisco also smiled. Autumn sighs sadly wishing she was the one he asked.
“We are also tagging along and will not be left out” Stacy and Brielle said.
“Hi guys” Parker said and sat beside Brielle, he also picked something from her hair and they both smiled at each other. Dalton was glaring at them from where he was sitting, he was almost tempted to go and separate them but keep calm.
A guy suddenly pushed a fragile girl away and she hit her head on the table. He said the girl matched his shoe and the girl had already apologized to him but he wasn’t listening to the girl cry on the floor she was laying, the boy was about to hit her again when someone suddenly tapped her shoulder. It was Francisco.
“What do you want?” He asked angrily.
“Don’t you know it is an animal that will be hitting a woman, have some little shame” he said cooly.
“And who the f**k are you?” The guy asked.
“Let’s say we are the pal that put animals like you in their place” Dalton almost said.
“Do you know my father?” The guy asked.
“I don’t know and I don’t care” Francisco said and grabbed his shoulder, Dalton grabbed the other shoulder and they dragged on the floor out of the class. Autumn and Stacy also come to help them. Soon his scream filled the corridor.

Adelaide enters the board room and she can see a lot of people waiting for her. She was informed some days ago that she will be doing a presentation and she has been practicing since then. She was also troubled because she doesn’t understand how Noah was feeling, he hasn’t said a word to her since the incident and that is getting worried. She can see some important people and Mr Everest was also present, he was smiling at her. Noah’s expression was blank as he stared at her. Though the board room was cool because of the air conditioner but she was sweating, she went to the front where there was a big projector screen, she closed her eyes and breathed out before talking. Everywhere was quiet as they listened to her presentation. The big projector screen was showing things as she talked. She saw the way the people listened to her, some were even whispering to each other, some were nodding which means they are following her. That boosted her courage and she started talking boldly and her confidence was restored. She talks for about thirty minutes before finishing up her presentation and a loud slap follows as they all look at her.
Mr Everest was looking at her proudly and that made her feel special, all the board members were nodding their heads while whispering at each other, she really tried.
Noah wasn’t left out, he was really impressed by her performance. Some workers were now looking at her in a new way while some ladies were jealous of her, Nancy was boiling inside but kept a calm face.
“That was very good, I am proud of you daughter, “ Mr Everest said and hugged him. Noah was watching them from his seat.
“I just do my work,” she said.
“You did great” he smiled and released her. Nancy came in with some files.
“This is the thing we need to know about the award, no dressing code this year” Nancy said.
“Good, you can give them bold,” Mr Everest said.
“I should give her, is she going with him?” She asked curiously.
“Yeah, do you have a problem with that?” Mr Everest asked.
“No sir, I just think someone with more experience should go” Nancy said and glared at Adelaide.
“She is going,” Mr Everest said again.
“Okay sir” Nancy said and left, she went straight to the bathroom and screamed, she was burning angrily. She has been looking forward to this party. She has always dreamt about being Noah’s plus one but now, the girl just came and snatched it from her.
“I have to do something, I really have to do , Nancy,” she said angrily.

“Get in” Noah said and Adelaide entered without saying anything. The drive was silent until Noah turned to a direction that was different from their house.
“Where are we going?” Adelaide asked curiously.
“Just watch, you can drive right?” He asked.
“Yeah, I exchange cars every week when my parents was still alive” she said with a smile. He didn’t say anything and just drive, she was watching the road trying to get what he was trying to say until they get to a company. Her father’s company, the place look totally different right now but she can still recognize it no matter how they changed it. They drove in and she look around curiously, the inside still look the same , it was just the outside that changes, she started to remember her parents as they car stopped at the parking lot.
“So I am here to buy a car for you since Nicholas won’t stop bugging you, I don’t think you will be using it though, but you can when you think I have left” he said and she smiled.
“There are a lot of cars at the mansion, I can just carry one,” she said.
“You are not only here for the car, you have to check the environment, you can’t buy a place without seeing how the environment looks, who knows you may want to renovate it” he said with no expression.
“You are getting the company for me?” Adelaide asked in shock.
“Let’s say it’s a thank you for taking good care of my princess” he said and got out of the car. She smiled before coming out too. The staff run toward them immediately when they see him.
“My wife wants to get a car” he said and the staff smiled at her as they led her to a garage that was filled with beautiful, expensive cars. She started checking everything out with a smile on her face, she saw a red Benz and chose.
“My staff told me you are here Mr Noah Everest” a voice said. He was the owner of the place.
“Yeah I came to get a car for my wife” Noah said.
“Good evening ma’am” the person greets Adelaide.
“Evening” she said and looked at him, her eyes widened in shock as she stared at him.
“Did I know you somewhere?” The man asked while looking at her too. Adelaide didn’t respond. She recognized this man. He was their father’s secretary. He came to their house like every weekend. He became her father’s secretary, after her father mistakenly hit him with her car. So if this man is the owner of the company, does that mean he bought the company from the bank, did he have such a huge amount of money to buy it, and if he really bought it then why didn’t he help them and allow them to suffer? Now she was so confused because she didn’t know what was going on.
Noah can notice her mood as they went back into the car, he wanted to ask her what was wrong but changed his mind. Throughout the drive Adelaide head was filled with the sad fate her and her brother face, she was popular in college, she had a lot of friends, same with their parents but after their death, they didn’t see anyone again. Her ex boyfriend that she trusted to break her heart.
Noah had parked the car at the mansion parking lot when she suddenly burst into tears, she was feeling really sad that she couldn’t help it. Noah knew she was going through a lot and didn’t question her, he just pulled her into a gentle hug.
“It’s gonna be okay,” he said and patted her back.
