“Are you talking back at her grace?”. Jade gasped pointing at herself and Kai instantly bowed his head.
“I deserve to be punished your grace”. Kai said his head bowed as everyone stared at them.
“Of course you would be punished come with me!”. Jade sneered angrily before walking back to her seat with the Emperor and Kai looked around in puzzlement before following her.
Jade walked to the Emperor smiling at him, he stared back at her in a confused look.
“Permit me to punish him for talking back at me your majesty”. Jade said with a smile and many scholars around began writing on their sheets quietly so as not to fall into her trap like Kai.
The Emperor first glanced at Kai who had an unreadable look on his face before nodding at Jade and immediately she stretched her hand at him.
“What do you want?’. He asked Jade.
“His punishment is with you, give it”. Jade replied her hands still stretched at the Emperor.
“What punishment? I have no such thing in my disposal”. Emperor Damien said looking around himself to confirm he really had nothing.
Then Jade moved closer to him bringing her face to his ear.
“The exam questions you set specifically for whoever you think is fit for the post of prime minister. Give it to me now, i think Kai’s the best for the post”. Jade said and the Emperor’s eyes widened as he faced her.
“How do you know about that? And I’m the one deciding whose fit for the position not you–
“Oh, so you don’t want to set my sister free and you also don’t want to help increase Kai’s status? Greedy you, you’re very greedy!”. Jade hissed in his ears before moving away from the emperor and the Emperor scoffed at her remark.
‘Greedy me? So I can’t decide on my own?’. Emperor Damien hissed in his head as he stared sharply at Jade who rolled eyes at him before facing Kai.
“I’m still waiting for my punishment”. Kai said to Jade who gave him a ‘hush’ signal, gesturing with her finger on her lips.
“He’s still thinking, don’t disturb him”. Jade whispered to Kai who blinked and then he glanced at the Emperor who was still staring sharply at Jade, while his fingers tapped softly on the desk before him, but she wasn’t looking his way, her back was turned on him as she faced Kai instead.
‘Gosh what’s she up to?’. Kai sighed in his mind as he watched the others write the exam except him.
Then finally the Emperor’s fingers tapping on the desk stopped and he got up walking to Jade who still backed him, he took her hand holding it tightly and she faced him.
“I’ll make him take the special exam but it’s not free, you’ll surely pay for it”. Emperor Damien muttered as he brought his hand to her face to tuck a loose strand of her hair behind her ear and Jade smiled pecking his cheeks and everyone present exchanged cringe expressions but dare not make any sound.
“Thank you”. Jade winked at the Emperor and patted his head.
“Don’t thank me yet”. Emperor Damien smirked at her before walking to Kai who was still lost.
“Come with me”. Emperor Damien said to Kai before leaving and everyone bowed at the Emperor and Kai’s exit before continuing their work.
“Like i said I have only three rules–
Jade made to start again as she stood boldly in front of the scholars but one of the guys raised up their hands to speak and she gave him a raised eyebrow.
“Sorry for interrupting your Grace. Earlier you said you had only three rules, but you listed four”. The scholar said and the others nodded in agreement while Jade frowned.
“I did? I remember mentioning three. Well list the four if you insist that I’m wrong”. Jade said giving the particular scholar a side eye and he stood up to list them.
“You said no talking, no sneezing, no coughing and no breathing”. He said and Jade scoffed.
“Look at you acting like the god of wisdom. You think i didn’t know what i was doing? I in-ten-ti-ona-ly wanted you all to correct me, you just fell for my trap.
Who doesn’t know four comes before three”. Jade said frowning at that particular scholar, and everyone exchanged glances in shock.
“Three comes before four your grace”. The same scholar corrected and Jade threw him a glare.
“Do you want to fail?”. She threatened and immediately sat back down on his seat after bowing apologetically multiple times.
“But seriously why am I this dumb in the tenth province? I wasn’t dumb in the fourth realm. I mean who doesn’t know that three comes before four? How come you’re this stupid Jade”. Jade muttered secretly at herself as she hit her head slightly at every chance she gets.
