INTO THE DEPTHS OF LOVE : CHAPTER 101 – 110

Romina walked home, one step after another, her heart breaking from the words Luke had said to her. It wasn’t that she was being clingy; she just couldn’t stop herself from thinking about him.

It wasn’t her first time falling in love, but it was the first time she loved someone so deeply that she couldn’t go a day without seeing Luke. That’s why she went to the library to see him.

When she got home, Kristin was about to leave after visiting her parents’ house.

Kristin quickly rushed to her when she saw the tear-streaks on her face.

“What’s wrong, Romina? Why are you crying?” she asked, concern clear in her voice.

Romina looked at Kristin, tears falling from her eyes. “Why didn’t you tell me he was married?”

“Who?”

“Luke,” Romina choked out between sobs. “Your buddy, Luke.”

“Wait, he’s the same man you said you wanted to marry? I thought when Luke came here days ago, you denied having a crush on him,” Kristin asked.

“I lied. Luke is the man I told you about,” she sniffled.

“You told him about your feelings?”

“No, I didn’t. He figured it out on his own. He said he hates me because I’m being clingy. I didn’t mean to be; I just… I just love him,” Romina sobbed.

Kristin pulled her into a comforting hug. “It’s okay, Romina. Luke isn’t that kind of man. He just loves his wife too much.”

“Is she that beautiful?”

“Of course not. You’re more beautiful than her,” Kristin patted her.

“Are you trying to make me feel better, or am I really more beautiful than her?” Romina asked through her tears.

“No, I’m serious. Cecelia isn’t that beautiful, but looks aren’t everything that makes someone love you.”

“Says the woman married to a handsome billionaire,” Romina muttered, and Kristin laughed.

“Should I talk to Luke?” Kristin asked after the laughter died down.

Romina broke the hug and shook her head with a sad smile. “Don’t talk to him. It’s not like it’ll make him love me. Maybe I should just forget about my feelings for him. He’s married, and I don’t want to be a homewrecker.”

“Will you be able to?” Kristin asked softly.

“Yes, I can. If I could forget about my first love, why can’t I forget about Luke? I know I love him more, but I’m going to try,” Romina said, her expression determined.

“Will you be going back to Singapore?”

“Working as a nurse there is exhausting. I love it here in Las Vegas. I’m thinking of becoming a nutritionist. How does that sound? It’s kind of like being a nurse.”

Kristin smiled. “I know my best friend so well. Anything you put your heart into always works out for you.”

Romina grinned. “Thank you so much, Kristin.”

“You’re welcome anytime.”

They smiled at each other and hugged again.

Kristin spent some time with Romina before heading home. When she arrived, she entered Kathryn’s room and found Richard sitting next to her, telling her a bedtime story. Kathryn was already asleep.

Kristin smiled and gently sat on the bed. “Is she giving you a hard time?” she whispered, careful not to wake Kathryn.
