A Health Maintenance Organisation, Total Health Trust, has called on stakeholders in the education sector to provide inclusive education for special needs children in the country.
Head, provider management at THT, Dr Chinyeaka Aguboshim, gave this advice when the organisation visited Ojuwoye Community Inclusive Primary School, Mushin, Lagos State as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility activities and community outreach projects.
She maintained that THT community outreach project was targeted at children with special needs and it was an initiative aimed at increasing public awareness and provide educational supports by empowering the children with information on the importance of healthy living.
Aguboshim, said, “These children with special needs require all the love and support they can get to be part of our world. Our decision to adopt this school is borne out of the need to contribute directly to our host community especially in the area of education. Our presence today is an attestation of this fact and we are using this to remind every organisation that we need to be involved in the drive towards a healthy Nigeria.”
On her part, the head of the school, Mrs Omotunde Omolaye, said, “THT has been very supportive and have become a regular partner with us. They have supported the school with many items which have been a great help. Even the teachers are not left out and this is very encouraging. We appreciate this kind gesture.”
