Episode 5
Rayna’s Pov
It was an early Monday, I woke up in my apartment. It wasn’t as big as my room but it is perfect, I have neighbors and I’m not lonely. Jennifer had taken Isa to the daycare already so all I had to do was take my bath and dress for work.
I pulled off my nightgown and walked to the bathroom, I took my bath shortly after and walked outside. I sat at the table in front of the mirror and applied my cosmetics then wore a red trouser and blue top, I pouted my mouth with a peach lipstick then took a white converse for my shoes. I had some leftover mac and cheese for breakfast then entered my car and drove to work just like an average person.
I got to work 20 minutes later and saw that the closed sign of the restaurant was showing. “That’s odd” I said to myself. I got down from the car after parking it and worked a few distance to the restaurant. I saw the restaurant gate was locked with a chain and big padlock. “What’s going on here” I asked nobody in particular but a man answered. “We are demolishing this building madam, it is government orders. So please excuse us let’s do our job” He said. I gasped surprised, “Government orders, this restaurant has been here for how many years, you can’t just demolish it like this… where’s Aunt Jessica? I need to let her know of this, what nonsense is this?” I said upset and brought out my phone from my bag. I dialled her number but she wasn’t picking. Where’s she? She needs to know about the injustice done to her restaurant.
“Madam please will you excuse me?” He said and pushed me away. How rude.
I rolled my eyes at him and entered my car, I wonder how Aunt Jessica is going to take this news, how dare the government? BEST FOODIES is one of the best restaurants in the whole city and it’s been standing for more than 10 years, i have also grown fond of it that I can’t do without it, it’s not like the building is going to collapse soon.
I parked my car at Aunt Jessica’s garage and walked inside her house, she was sitting down with Julia her second and last daughter who I was older than with probably 7 years. “Aunt Jessica you need to see what I..”
“I know Rayna. It’s over” She said. Julia stood up sobbing and walked upstairs probably to her room. “But but Aunt Jessica you can’t just..” she cut me off again.
“I went to the government’s office this morning Rayna, they told me there was nothing I could do since the land is government’s property and someone had paid thrice the price for the land, I was even fined $2,000 for resisting” She explained. “This is wrong Aunt Jessica, you have the right to fight, we will hire a lawyer for this case and I’m sure we will win” I said. Aunt Jessica stood up and patted me on the shoulders. “Rather than fighting for what we’ve lost already, why don’t we start to build another one. It will take money, stress and time but at least BEST FOODIES will still exist” She said and went upstairs.
Whoever was behind this must be a heartless person, why BEST FOODIES, after how many years, the person behind this must have ulterior motives and I’m going to make sure I find out, first of all I am going to the office.

Daxton’s Pov
I smirked, watching the man sit down and took a glass of wine from Selene. She brought a glass for me too but I refused and signalled her to go away but she stood there ignoring my looks.
“So sir, we’ve done what you asked us to do but I must say, a lot of people are going to miss that restaurant including me, they make excellent dishes there” He said and took a sip from the glass of wine. I opened a bag and gave him some bundles of money. “Make sure that restaurant BEST FOODIES doesn’t exist again” I said and gave him the money. Selene dropped the tray on the floor making the glass shattered in many pieces.
“B_es__est Fo_oo__odies” She stammered nervously. “But why” She said upset. I ignored her and returned to the man I was discussing with. “Thanks” I said and walked upstairs to my room. I locked the door because of Selene and sat on the chair.

Rayna’s Pov
I got home and sunk in the couch, I rubbed my forehead tiredly and pulled of my converse. Today is a great disappointment for me, the restaurant was the only place that kept me faraway from my troubles and now they’ve taken it away from me. I laid down on the couch to sleep but the loud ring tone of my phone sprung me back up.
“Jennifer” I said immediately I picked it up.
“I’m sorry Rayna but I won’t be able to pick Isa from daycare today, my boss sent our work team on an assignment and I may probably come late…..it’s okay Jennifer….but won’t you be busy at work”
I guess she didn’t know about her mom’s restaurant, I can’t let her know now, she needs to concentrate on her work.
“It’s okay Jenny……okay bye greet Isa for me” She hung the phone.
My phone rang again, I sighed and looked at the caller. “Mom??”
“Hi mom….Rayna hon are you okay, Jessica just called me and it’s all over the news…I’m okay mom it’s going to be okay…I wish I could do something but your dad froze all my accounts and he mustn’t know that you are with Jessica……don’t worry mom, everything is going to be okay…be happy child, I have missed you so much…I miss you too mom…okay bye darling….bye mom” I said and cut the call, I didn’t even realize that I was crying already. Classic Rayna.
The door knocked and I walked to open it, standing in front of me was Todd, Jenny’s boyfriend.
“Todd?” I said questioningly. He entered inside quickly and grabbed my hands tightly. I was getting scared already. “Todd what is it?” I asked confused.
“Rayna you don’t have a boyfriend right, and you are still very young even though you are a single mom” He said. I released my hands from his and took a deep breath of relief. “Is that why you are scaring me like that, what does “I” single being , young and a mother has to do with whatever you want to tell me” I asked.
“Look Rayna, my friend teold me about his boss who is stinkinly rich and very handsome, he came to the city a week ago and I’m damn sure he’ll be damn interested in a pretty woman. This is a very good opportunity for us Rayna, I would have asked my babe to do this but I can’t so you are the only female I know that is in his age range, you can date him Rayna, I swear he’ll be perfect for you, let me even show you his pic..”
“Get out Todd” I said angrily.
He brought out his phone but I pushed him outside and locked the door. How dare he, he wants to use me for his stupid gains. Son of a bitch, he’s lucky he is my friend’s boyfriend if not.
A lot going on my mind and I need to just settle down, I looked at the time , 12:13 four hours more before I pick Isa from Daycare, that’s still enough time for me to rest.
But I know I’m a bad sleeper, I may sleep for more than 4 hours.
I won’t sleep, I’ll just close my eyes for a short while..

Miss Nancy’s Pov
I looked at the time repeatedly waiting for Isa’s mom, I called her number for some times but she wasn’t picking, maybe I’ll just take her mom since all the kids are home already, I know Isa’s mom restaurant so it won’t hurt a bit to take her there, probably her mother can dish me a plate of her delicious pasta (winks).
“Isa let’s go home” I said to Isa who was busy licking a sweet. She stood up and gave me her hand, I checked out and we walked out of the daycare hand in hand to my car which was parked opposite the daycare.
My phone rang and I let go of Isa to pick the call, before I knew it Isa screamed “Icecweam” and ran into the street.
“Isa” I screamed as she almost got hit by a car but a man swiftly carried her away from the road.
Daxton’s Pov
The little girl was crying so I put her little head on my chest making her less scared and I felt more comfortable in a way I didn’t understand.
The driver came out of his car and started yelling at her which made her cry more, his mother I suppose apologize but he kept on ranting.
“Hey it’s okay, don’t yell at the small kid” I said and he frowned.
“Who are you to her? What’s your business? She almost caused me an accident, are you her father” He asked yelling
“Yes she’s my daughter and I won’t let you talk to my daughter anyhow” I said getting upset. The man saw how angry I was and walked out. I bought a cone of ice cream for her and she received it happily.
The teacher thanked me and turned to leave, but then she turned back again and smiled at me.
“Sir do you have a daughter or a child ” She asked, I shoom my head to say no.
“Well you would be a great father if you had one” She said and carried the girl away. The little girl waved at me and I smiled from my heart. For the first time in how many years, I was actually smiling from the bottom of my heart just because of this little girl.
Well! I may not have a daughter but I’m going to treat this jewel like my daughter. I’m going to be coming to this daycare from now on. It’s a promise ..

Episode 6
Rayna’s Pov
I woke up with a throbing headache. Fuck I really slept for a very long time. “Oh God Isa” I said and jumped up from the couch. I quickly put on my scandals and rush to the door, I open the door and met Miss Nancy holding Isa at the door. “Mama” My baby squealed excitedly and jumped at me, I returned the excitement by carrying her little body in my arms. “Miss Nancy thanks a lot and I am so so sorry for not coming on time, I….”
“It’s okay Miss Skylar, it’s nothing, I passed your restaurant today but it was closed, is everything okay” She asked. I sighed and asked her to come in, I put Isa down on the couch and gave Nancy a glass of water.

“Well that’s terrible Miss Skylar, I asked a person will miss that restaurant” Nancy said. I sighed tiredly and drew Isa to me, her skirt was a little dirty with dust. “Has she been playing with dirt” I asked Nancy. “No, she almost got hit by a car but….”
“WHAT, GOT HIT BY A CAR, BABY ARE YOU OKAY, WE ARE GOING TO THE HOSPITAL RIGHT NOW” I pulled her closer observing her body making her frightened. “It’s okay miss Skylar, she’s perfectly okay, luckily for her a nice man saved her from getting hit” She said. I sighed a breath of relief and hugged her, I was crying again. I didn’t know what to do if I lost my baby, she’s the only reason I’m alive. I lost Daxton, I can’t lose Isa. “Thanks Miss Nancy” I said. She stood up and said her goodbyes, she waved at Isa after pouting her cheeks. I locked the door and turned back at Isa.
“So darling what do you want for dinner” I asked.
“Ceweals” She yelled excitedly raising her hands up in excitement. I giggled at her words and carry her on the counter.
“Ceweals it is” I said and walked to the kitchen to make her dinner.

Mr Skylar’s Pov
I had my hand on my chest trying to breath like a normal person but the attack I had wasn’t helping. Mia ran inside after hearing me scream in pain. ” Rod are you okay” Mia said as she tried pulling me up. I was having an attack, a heart attack, after seeing the letter sent to me by our stock brokers saying that someone approached Skylar shareholders and made irresistible offers to sell the company to them. The same company I had worked hard for how many years.
“Rod come on what’s wrong, somebody call the doctor” Mia yelled and soon everywhere became dark.

Rayna’s Pov
I patted Isa gently as she slept on her bed. I was crying again. Few minutes before I put her down to sleep, she asked “Mama, where’s dada”
I couldn’t say anything to her, I was too weak to answer the question so I broke down in tears, remembering the past was something I wasn’t ready for but I have a child which is a product of my past and I can’t avoid these questions.
My phone rang from the living room, I left the bedroom and picked my phone.
“Hello mom….Rayna your dad just had a heart attack..WHAT”

“Jennifer thanks for accepting to watch over my baby, I can’t repay you enough” I said and put on my coat.
“It’s okay Rayna, I’ll do anything for this cutie right over here” Jennifer said. I kissed her cheek goodbye and drove to the address Mom sent to me.
It’s been 3 years since I left home, as much as I detest my father, he’s still my father and I don’t want anything bad happening to him.
I walked inside the hospital hurriedly. His ward had VIP tag written on it. I entered inside and saw dad lying on the bed, mom sitting beside him sobbing gently. “Dad” I said with a shaken voice, I was going to break down again, I wasn’t strong at all, my emotions always got the better of me. “Rayna, you came” Mom said and hugged me..
She explained all that happened, the reason why Dad had a attack.
“But mom who could have done this? And why?” I asked. “Honey you wouldn’t believe who is behind all this happening” Mom said and went through her purse while I looked tensed. She handed me a picture and I looked at it. Nothing could explain how I feel, my mind was running different emotions. “Mom this is Daxton” I said smiling and forgetting about that he was the reason why my Dad is lying on the bed.
“Yes honey, it’s Daxton the one who is the reason behind your Dad’s condition and Jessica’s restaurant closing” Mom said codly. “No mom” I said shaking my head, I didn’t believe my Daxton would do this. He might have anger problems but he wasn’t wicked.
“Yes hon, it’s true” Mom insisted.
“No mom, my Daxton can’t do this” I said and mom chuckled mockingly.
“Your Daxton???, your Daxton was poor. This one is freaking rich and I think the money he’s acquired has made him show his true colors” Mom said but I still didn’t believe. Daxton isn’t callous, he can’t be the one behind this, he just can’t.

Daxton’s Pov
I smiled when I opened my eyes and realized she was beside me, my Rayna. “Hey” She said and smiled showing me her white set of beautiful teeth. “Hey you are here” I said
She stood up from the bed and turned to leave but I pulled her back with one hand. “Don’t go…..please” I pleaded. She giggled and released herself from me then ran away playfully.

I woke up and realized I was having another dream about Rayna, about the woman I despised so much. I stood up and poured myself a drink, I had to take my mind off her.
“Drinking early in the morning is a very bad habit you know” Selene said as she walked into my room with only under wears. “What’s this Selene, get out” I said codly. She rolled her eyes at me and came forward. “You look tensed baby” She said and rubbed my shoulders firmly. “Selene stop this” I said getting weak. I tried pushing her away but she grabbed my hand and pulled me to the bed. “When last have you been treated like a man?” She said. I was getting lost already but something kicked me out of her trap.
“Selene get out now” I snapped at her, she sighed disappointed and walked out, I rubbed my forehead and sat down on the bed.

It would be very nice meeting Mr Skylar today, I wonder how shocked he would be when he realizes I’m the one behind his downfall, the poor Daxton has become very rich and he is ready to take him down.
Daxton let’s get ready for the meeting with the board of directors.

Rayna’s Pov
“Mama bye” Isa said as Jennifer carried her to the Daycare. I smiled at her then gave her a peck on the forehead. “Bye Darling” I said. “Thanks Jenny” I told Jennifer. She chuckled and left.
I took a big sigh, mom’s words kept on hitting deep in my head. Well! We are going to find out today. Mom had asked me to fill Dad’s place in the meeting today, I didn’t want to but this was a family matter, I had no other choice, besides I am not doing much than just taking down notes and try to negotiate with the stockholders. That’s all. So I just hope today goes well, if what mom said today is true that means I might probably meet Daxton. I don’t know if I should be excited or sad about it. Well! Today is going to determine it.
