A DEAL WITH THE DEVIL : CHAPTER 131 – 140

LUCIFER LITTLE PRINCESS 1

LUCIFER SMILE.

I leaned back against the wall, my arms folded as I watched Selene disappear down the hall. Every step she took away from me brought a wry smile to my face. She had no idea how much control she had over me, the way she stirred something unfamiliar yet impossible to ignore.

I’d seen many souls come and go, fought battles few could imagine, and yet here she was, a single woman turning everything I knew into uncertainty.

A DEAL WITH THE DEVIL : CHAPTER 131 - 140

I should’ve let her leave, should’ve held back, but watching her storm off only made the desire to chase her all the more irresistible.

But before I could move, a small, familiar voice broke through my musings.

“Lucifer?” Ana’s voice was as soft as a whisper, but it carried the weight of a question I wasn’t entirely prepared for.

I looked down to see her standing at the doorway, her fingers fiddling with the hem of her dress. Her bright, soulful eyes were shadowed by an expression too mature for her age, something that never failed to break my defenses.

Little Ana—my little princess. The world had been cruel to her, and despite everything I’d done to protect her, she was burdened with questions no child should ever have to ask.

resting a hand on her shoulder. “Ana,” I greeted warmly, my voice gentler than it had been with anyone else.

She hesitated, then took a tiny step closer. “Does she… does she hate me?” Her eyes searched mine, vulnerable and wide.

I took a slow breath“Selene?” I asked, clarifying, and she nodded. I forced a reassuring smile. “No, princess. She has a… well, a little misunderstanding.”

Ana’s face brightened. “So she likes me?”

“She will,” I said with certainty, brushing a stray curl from her cheek.

Her expression softened into something hopeful, a spark in her eyes that warmed me, yet saddened me at the same time. “Will she be my mother?” she asked in a voice barely above a whisper, but the weight of her question was clear. “Before I die?”

The one thing she wanted, something as simple as having a mother, felt agonizingly out of reach. “Ana,” I began gently, talking to a child calmly is not something I excel in.

Her gaze held mine, unwavering. “Will you marry her?” she pressed, her lips trembling slightly as if she feared my answer. “I want to have a mother before…” She didn’t finish her sentence, as if afraid that voicing it would make it more real.

“Ana, it’s complicated. Selene… she doesn’t think too kindly of me.” I tried to keep my tone light.

“Why would she hate you?” she asked, her face scrunching up in confusion. “Is she a bad person? Only bad people hate you.”

A soft chuckle escaped me despite the weight of the conversation. “No, sweetheart, she’s not a bad person. It’s… it’s an adult problem. Sometimes people have differences that make things… difficult.”

Ana looked unconvinced, as if her young mind was trying to unravel a puzzle that seemed obvious to her. “People say I’m an adult too,” she offered proudly, her shoulders lifting with confidence.

A smile crossed my face as I leaned in, pressing a kiss to her forehead. “You only look like one, little one. But in here—” I pointed to her heart— “you’re still just my little Ana.”

She wrapped her arms around my neck, hugging me tightly. “Then why don’t you just make her stay?” she whispered into my shoulder. “If you really want her, why let her go? Tell her sorry”

The honesty of her words struck me “It’s not always that simple, Ana. Sometimes… you have to let people come to you on their own.”

Her small voice grew quieter, thoughtful. “But you’re going to try, right?” She pulled back, her earnest eyes meeting mine. “For me?”

I nodded, unable to deny her, not when her hopes depended on it. “Yes, I’ll try.”

A grin tugged at her lips, her faith in me absolute. “Then I know she’ll stay,” she said, as if her confidence alone could make it so.

“All right, I need to go find Selene now,” I told her. “Don’t leave your room until I come back, okay?”

She nodded obediently, though there was a spark of excitement in her gaze, as if she could already envision Selene returning with me.
