A DEAL WITH THE DEVIL : CHAPTER 131 – 140
A strange sensation prickled at the back of my mind, an uncomfortable feeling that settled into my bones. “The others?” I asked, trying to keep my voice steady.
Ana nodded again, her eyes reflecting a depth that sent a chill through me. “The other people he’s known,” she replied simply. “They were never like you. He never let anyone get close to him. You… you make him different.”
I swallowed, unsure of how to respond. How could I, when I barely understood my own feelings? I was drawn to him, yes, but in ways I couldn’t even admit to myself.
And yet, every encounter with him left me feeling more confused, more tangled in something I didn’t want to understand. “I don’t know what he’s told you, Ana,” I said carefully, “but I don’t think I’m the person you believe I am.”
She frowned slightly, tilting her head as if studying me. “But you care about him, don’t you?” Her voice was soft, yet her question held an edge of curiosity, like she was searching for something.
I opened my mouth to protest, but the words wouldn’t come. Did I care about him? It seemed impossible, absurd, and yet… I couldn’t deny that something about him kept pulling me back, despite everything. “I… I don’t know,” I admitted, my voice barely a whisper.
Ana’s expression softened, and she gave my hand a gentle squeeze. “It’s okay,” she said, as if she understood more than I did. “Lucifer can be… difficult. But he’s good, deep down. He’s just… little mean.”
I let out a short laugh, one that held no humor. “he’s wicked” I probably shouldn’t say that in front of his child.
I looked at Ana, searching her face for answers. “Why are you telling me this?” I asked, my voice low. “Why do you want me to marry him?”
Ana’s smile was sad, almost wistful. “Because,” she said quietly, “I want to know what it’s like to have a mother before… before it’s too late.”
Her words hung in the air, a weight I couldn’t shake. “Too late?” I echoed, my heart sinking as I tried to make sense of her words. “Ana, what do you mean?”
For a moment, she looked away, her gaze drifting toward the window. “I don’t have much time left,” she said softly, her voice filled with a quiet acceptance. “Lucifer is trying to help me, to keep me here. But he can’t stop what’s coming.”
A lump formed in my throat, and I struggled to speak. “Ana, I… I’m so sorry.”
She turned back to me, her expression filled with a gentle warmth that made my heart ache. “It’s okay,” she said, her voice soothing. “I’ve accepted it.”
I stared at her, emotions swirling within me. How could she be so calm, so accepting of something so final? And how could Lucifer, with all his power, do nothing to save her?
The idea of him feeling helpless, of him facing something he couldn’t control, felt strangely tragic, even… heartbreaking.
I squeezed her hand, my own fears and uncertainties melting away in the face of her strength. “Ana,” I murmured, my voice thick with emotion, “I… I’ll try. I’ll try to be here for you.”
Her face lit up with a soft smile, one that filled the room with a warmth I hadn’t realized was missing. “Thank you,” she whispered.
A question tug at my mind and I couldn’t help but to ask ” how old are you?”
She smiled then reply with excitement ” am six ” how can a six year old look so matured, I mean her chest is even heavier than mine
” Huh?” I gasp.
