A DEAL WITH THE DEVIL : CHAPTER 151 – 160

LUCIFER’S VULNERABLE SIDE 2 (CLOSER TO DEATH THAN YOU THINK )

LUCIFER EYES REMAIN WIDE OPEN.

I didn’t respond to the kiss. Not because I hadn’t been tempted—but because I knew better.

It was reckless, unexpected, and most importantly, doomed from the start. As quickly as her lips touched mine, I moved out of the way, faster than the human eye could track.

“Lucifer—” Selene began, her voice breathy and uncertain.

But before she could finish, her stomach made the decision for her. She turned pale, swayed, and bent over, retching onto the floor as if on cue.

I sighed, more grateful for my quick reflexes than I cared to admit. I didn’t particularly care to be coated in her stomach’s offerings.

“Come here, darling,” I said, brushing my irritation aside. She looked up at me, her face flushed and embarrassed. I gave her a faint smile. “We’ll do that ‘poof’ thing you keep mentioning.”

Before she could form a coherent response, I wrapped her in my arms, and with a thought, the room disappeared in a swirl of black smoke. We reappeared in her bathroom, a quaint little space that I would never voluntarily set foot in under normal circumstances.

Still confused why she choose this ridiculous small room.

Selene stayed perfectly still in my arms, her warm breath brushing against my neck. I didn’t wait for her approval as I set her down on the edge of the tub. She wobbled slightly, and I steadied her with a hand on her shoulder.

“Don’t get any ideas, Lucifer,” she teased, her words slightly slurred but her tone playful.

I rolled my eyes, but my lips twitched. “You’re hardly in a state to be seducing anyone, Selene. Sit still.”

Without waiting for her to argue, I reached for the buttons on her blouse. She didn’t protest, though I caught the ghost of a smirk on her lips. As the fabric fell away, revealing her skin, she quirked a brow at me.

“You’ve done this before, haven’t you?” she murmured.

I didn’t answer. I lifted her into the tub, letting the warm water envelop her. She sighed in relief, leaning back against the porcelain.

I leaned back against the wall, watching Selene soak in the bath. The faint steam rising from the water curled around her like mist, clinging to her pale skin. She rubbed the soap over her arms slowly, almost hypnotically, as if each movement required careful consideration.

She caught me staring and smirked. “Enjoying the view, are we?”

I raised an eyebrow, unamused. “You’re in no position to tease me, darling. You just vomited all over my shoes.”

Selene chuckled weakly, her head resting against the rim of the tub. “You’ll live.”

“Barely,” I said dryly.

She sighed, closing her eyes for a moment. Her lashes cast delicate shadows on her cheeks, and for a brief second, she looked peaceful. Vulnerable, even. It was a rare sight, one I wasn’t sure what to do with.

“You’re oddly quiet,” she murmured, breaking the silence.

“I’m waiting for you to say something worth responding to,” I said, crossing my arms over my chest.

Her lips twitched. “You’re terrible at small talk, aren’t you?”

“Small talk is beneath me,” I replied.

She opened one eye, peering at me with faint amusement. “And yet here you are, sitting in a bathroom while I bathe. Seems pretty unusual for the devil.”

I tilted my head, considering her words. “You’re not wrong. This isn’t exactly my usual scene. But you’re hardly usual yourself.”

She frowned slightly, running the soap down her other arm. “Is that supposed to be a compliment?”

“Take it as you will,” I said with a shrug.

Selene rolled her eyes, though there was a flicker of curiosity in them. “You’re really good at dodging questions, you know that?”

“And you’re really good at asking too many,” I countered.

She laughed softly, the sound echoing in the small space. “Fair enough.”
