A DEAL WITH THE DEVIL : CHAPTER 151 – 160
For a moment, neither of us spoke. The sound of water splashing against the tub filled the silence.
Then, out of nowhere, she asked, “Why did you really bring me here, Lucifer?”
I met her gaze, my expression unreadable. “You already know the answer to that.”
“Humor me,” she said, her voice quieter now.
I exhaled slowly, leaning forward. “Because you’re mine,” I said simply.
Her fingers stilled on the soap, and she looked at me with an expression I couldn’t quite decipher. “That’s not an answer. That’s a claim.”
“And it’s the truth,” I said, my jitone unwavering. “Whether you like it or not, you belong to me, Selene.”
She shook her head, a faint smile on her lips. “You can’t just go around claiming people like they’re possessions.”
“I can, actually,” I said, a smirk tugging at my lips. “It’s one of the perks of being the devil.”
Selene splashed water in my direction, and I laughed, dodging it effortlessly.
“You’re impossible,” she muttered, though there was no real heat in her words.
“And you’re stubborn,” I shot back.
She tilted her head, her expression softening slightly. “Do you ever get tired of playing this role?”
“What role?”
“This whole ‘I’m the devil, I’m untouchable, I don’t care about anything’ act,” she said, her gaze piercing.
I stilled, her words striking a nerve I hadn’t expected. For a moment, I didn’t respond, letting the silence stretch between us.
“It’s not an act,” I said finally, my voice quieter than before.
Selene studied me for a long moment, as if trying to decipher the truth behind my words. Then she leaned back, resting her arms on the sides of the tub. “If you say so.”
Her tone was light, but there was an undercurrent of doubt that lingered in the air.

As she continued to wash herself, she glanced at me out of the corner of her eye. “You know, if you wanted to see me naked, you could’ve just asked.”
I rolled my eyes. “And ruin the fun of this little back-and-forth? Not a chance.”
She laughed, the sound brighter this time. “You’re such a tease, Lucifer.”
“And you’re remarkably bold for someone in your position,” I said, though there was no real bite to my words.
Selene grinned, running her fingers through her wet hair. “I figure if I’m stuck with you, I might as well make it interesting.”
“Stuck with me?” I echoed, raising an eyebrow.
“Don’t act surprised,” she said. “You’ve been pretty clear about your intentions.”
I smirked. “And here I thought I was being subtle.”
“Not even close,” she said, shaking her head.
There was a brief pause before she asked, “Do you ever wish things were different?” I really dislike this drunk aspect of her.
Her question caught me off guard, and for a moment, I didn’t know how to answer. “Wishing doesn’t change anything,” I said finally.
“That’s not an answer,” she said softly.
I looked at her, my gaze steady. “No. It’s not.”
Selene didn’t push further, and I was grateful for that.
“Try not to drown,” I said dryly.
I watched as she lazily rubbed the soap over her arms, her movements slow and unsteady. She was still intoxicated, but at least she wasn’t vomiting anymore.
Satisfied that she wasn’t about to keel over, I turned and left the bathroom.

Downstairs, the air was heavy with an unfamiliar presence. I didn’t need to look to know who it was.
“Gabriel,” I greeted, spotting my brother lounging in one of the chairs in the sitting room. His golden hair caught the dim light, a stark contrast to the shadows I preferred to keep in my home.
“Lucifer.” His voice was calm, but there was a sharpness to it that made me pause.
“To what do I owe the pleasure?” I asked, crossing the room to pour myself a glass of whiskey.
Gabriel didn’t answer immediately. Instead, he leaned forward, resting his elbows on his knees.
“You’re sick,” he said finally, his gaze piercing.
I froze for a moment before laughing. “Sick? That’s quite the diagnosis, brother. And what exactly do you think ails me?”
“You’ve been on Earth for too long,” he replied. “It’s affecting you. You need to leave.”
