A DEAL WITH THE DEVIL : CHAPTER 151 – 160
I froze, the reality of the situation crashing down on me as Lucifer’s furious gaze shifted from Lucien to me. His face was a mask of pure rage, something darker and more terrifying than I’d ever seen.
The ground seemed to tremble under the weight of his words as he stepped closer, his voice a high growl. “What part of *you belong to me* don’t you understand?”
I felt a surge of defiance rise within me, fueled by a sense of injustice that had been simmering for far too long.
I took a step toward him, meeting his gaze with a fire of my own. “You have no right to talk to me like that!” My voice was unsteady but fierce, and I felt a thrill of rebellion as I shouted back, “Not after what you did!”
His frown deepened, confusion flickering across his features as he processed my words. “What I did?” he echoed, his tone sharp, challenging. “Do you see me kissing another woman right after sleeping with you?”
“That’s different!” The words tore from me before I could stop them, fueled by the hurt and anger that had been simmering inside me. “You don’t get to ignore me, avoid me, and then act like I owe you something!” I was trembling, my hands clenched at my sides as I took another step toward him. “I didn’t mean anything by it. But you…” My voice wavered, betraying the pain I’d tried so hard to hide. “You left without a word. You looked right through me at breakfast like I didn’t even exist.”
He took a step closer, closing the distance between us until we were inches apart. His voice was low, deadly calm, but I could see the tension in his posture, the restrained fury simmering beneath the surface. “And that justifies throwing yourself at another man?” His gaze was intense, his eyes boring into mine as if he could see every thought, every feeling I was trying to hide.
I swallowed hard, feeling a flicker of doubt, of guilt. But I refused to back down. “I don’t belong to you,” I whispered, my voice barely audible but fierce.
His expression darkened, his jaw clenching. “Is that what you think?”
“Yes!” I shouted, the words tumbling out before I could stop them. “Yes, that’s what I think! I am not yours, Lucifer! You can’t just… just show up, turn my world upside down, and then act like I owe you my loyalty when you won’t even give me a straight answer about anything!”
For a moment, he just stared at me, the silence stretching between us, thick and heavy. His expression was unreadable, a strange mixture of anger, frustration, and something else, something I couldn’t quite decipher. And then, just as suddenly, his gaze softened, the anger fading into something colder, more distant.
“Very well,” he said quietly, his voice a low, controlled whisper. “If that’s how you feel.”
The sudden change in his tone threw me off, catching me off guard. I felt a pang of fear, of regret, but I forced myself to hold his gaze, to keep the defiance burning in my eyes. “It is,” I whispered, my voice trembling slightly, betraying the uncertainty that had crept into my chest.
He nodded, his gaze never leaving mine. “Then I will give you the space you seem to want so desperately.” There was a finality in his words, a coldness that sent a shiver down my spine. ” But you throwing yourself at Lucien? My servant? Am disappointed”
Without another word, he turned and walked away, his footsteps echoing in the silence of the garden. I watched him go, feeling a strange mix of relief and sadness settle over me, the weight of our argument sinking in. It wasn’t until he disappeared from sight that I let out the breath I’d been holding, my knees buckling as I sank down onto the bench, feeling the full impact of what had just happened.
Lucien appeared by my side, his expression soft as he reached out to steady me. “Are you alright?” he asked, his voice gentle, his hand resting on my shoulder.
I forced a weak smile, nodding. “I… I think so.” But the truth was, I wasn’t sure. I felt shattered, broken, as though a piece of me had been torn away, leaving only emptiness in its wake.
More than I hated him, I hated the fact that he see disappointed with me.
I know it’s short, just bear with me. Tomorrow chapter will be long.
