A DEAL WITH THE DEVIL : CHAPTER 151 – 160

“Selene,” I repeated, my voice softening as I crouched beside her. “Why are you crying?”

She shook her head, her shoulders trembling as more sobs escaped her. “I’m just… I’m so sad!”

I frowned, leaning closer. “Sad? About what?”

She finally lifted her head, her tear-streaked face tilted toward me. Her eyes were glassy, her cheeks flushed, and her lips trembled as she tried to form words.

“You’re upset with me,” she said, her voice breaking. “I know you are. And it’s my fault!”

I blinked, taken aback. “Selene—”

“No, don’t deny it,” she interrupted, waving her hand as if to silence me. “I kissed Lucien—or, well, he kissed me. But I didn’t stop him fast enough, and you’re mad at me, and I feel awful!”

Her words spilled out in a rush, and I struggled to keep up with her drunken logic. She sniffled, her tears falling more freely now as she continued.

“I won’t do it again,” she said earnestly, her voice trembling. “I swear. I won’t kiss another man ever again. Never, ever.”

I couldn’t help it—my lips curved into a small smile. She was utterly ridiculous, sitting on the sidewalk, sobbing about something so trivial. And yet, there was something endearing about her honesty, her raw emotion.

“You’re upset,” she added, her voice dropping to a whisper. “And I don’t want you to be upset. I hate it.”

“Selene,” I said, shaking my head. “You’re making a much bigger deal out of this than necessary.”

“No, I’m not,” she insisted, her tears still falling. “I hurt you, and that’s the worst thing I could ever do. I’m so, so sorry, Lucifer.”

I sighed, my heart softening at the sight of her. She was a mess—emotional, vulnerable, and far too hard on herself. But she was also sincere, and that sincerity was disarming.

Without thinking, I reached out and gently wiped a tear from her cheek. She looked up at me with wide, watery eyes, her lips parting slightly as if she couldn’t believe my touch was real.

“You’re so dramatic,” I said softly, my voice laced with amusement.

Her lower lip trembled, and for a moment, I thought she might start crying again. Instead, she sniffled and said, “I just don’t like seeing you disappointed”

“You won’t,” I said firmly.

Her eyes searched mine, as if she was looking for confirmation. “Promise?”

I smiled, leaning in closer. “Promise.”

She exhaled shakily, her shoulders relaxing slightly. Then, as if realizing the absurdity of her situation, she muttered, “I’m such a mess.”

“Yes, you are,” I said, chuckling. “But you’re a cute mess.”

She blinked at me, surprised by my words. Before she could respond, I leaned down and pressed a soft kiss to her forehead.

“You’re so cute,” I murmured against her skin.

She froze for a moment, her breath hitching. When I pulled back, her cheeks were flushed, and she stared at me as if I had just told her the secrets of the universe.

“I—” she started, but her words faltered.

“Come on,” I said, standing and offering her my hand. “Let’s get you home.”

She hesitated for a moment before placing her hand in mine. Her touch was warm and delicate, and I found myself lingering as I helped her to her feet.

As we began walking again, her mood seemed to lift slightly. She glanced up at me, her earlier tears replaced by a shy smile.

“You think I’m cute?” she asked, her voice teasing but tentative.

I smirked, glancing down at her. “Don’t let it go to your head.” I hold her hand, stopping her, she looks at me, confused…. Not explaining much, I lean close then whisper ” am sorry for leaving you alone that night” I look at her ” it was wrong of me ” before she could respond…. I knelt down ” forgive me”

She remain shocked, looking at me.

Selene is the only human I have ever knelt for… I watch her lean close and kiss me, it was the first time she initiated the kiss…. I remain still, eyes wide with shock.
