A DEAL WITH THE DEVIL : CHAPTER 161 – 170
“She doesn’t belong here, Gabriel,” Lucien’s voice said, tense and hushed. “She’s too close to him. this is the only way to get her out, put fake notes right in that book, something to catch her interest—”
” Hmm” Gabriel’s voice cut in, calm and measured. “that should work”
There was a pause, followed by Lucien’s sigh. “It will and Lucifer will have no cue about it—”
The recording ended, the silence that followed heavy and suffocating.
I stared at the device, my mind reeling.
Lucien.
My most trusted companion. My right hand. The one I had relied on for centuries.
Betrayal was nothing new to me, but this…
I clenched my fists, my nails digging into my palms as fury surged through me.
Gabriel smirked, his gaze locked onto mine. “I have to admit, even I’m impressed. You always said loyalty was something you valued above all else.”
“Get out,” I growled, my voice barely above a whisper.
“Now, now,” he said, stepping closer. “Don’t you want to know where she is?”
My heart stopped for a moment before racing again. “What did you do?”
Gabriel raised his hands in mock surrender. “Me? I didn’t do anything. She left on her own. I just… gave her a little nudge.”
My breath caught. “What do you mean, ‘a nudge’?”
He chuckled. “Oh, you know. A touch here, a suggestion there. She’s quite malleable, isn’t she? So eager to run when given the chance.”
I lunged at him, my hand closing around his throat as I slammed him against the wall.
“Where. Is. She?” I snarled, my voice dripping with venom.
Gabriel didn’t flinch, his smirk never faltering. “She’s far from here by now. Somewhere even you can’t reach her. But don’t worry—I made sure she’s safe… for now.”
I tightened my grip, my rage threatening to consume me. But even as I held him, I knew I couldn’t kill him. Not yet.
Not until I found her.
I released him, stepping back as he adjusted his coat with an infuriating calmness.
“You should be thanking me,” he said, brushing off imaginary dust. “I’m giving her a chance to see the world, to find herself. Isn’t that what she wanted?”
I didn’t respond, my mind already racing. How to murder Lucien.
Gabriel started toward the door, pausing to glance back at me. “You might want to keep an eye on your little protégé. Lucien’s loyalty isn’t as solid as you think.” he smile ” if you want her alive, you really should return back to your throne, in hell.”
He left without another word, leaving me alone with my thoughts and my fury.
A DEAL WITH THE DEVIL : CHAPTER 161 – 170
I sat back down at my desk, my hands trembling as I picked up the recorder. Lucien’s voice echoed in my mind, each word a knife twisting deeper into my chest.
I couldn’t afford to dwell on his betrayal—not now.
Selene was all that mattered.
I closed my eyes, letting the anger burn away the doubt and fear. She was out there, alone and vulnerable, worse case is if she is in Lucien’s arms.
