A DEAL WITH THE DEVIL : CHAPTER 161 – 170

I sighed, setting my drink aside and leaning back slightly in my seat. “Always so serious. Fine. Let’s talk business.”

Gabriel’s eyes narrowed, his patience clearly wearing thin. “What business?”

“Lucifer,” I said simply, letting the name hang in the air between us.

His reaction was subtle but telling—the way his shoulders stiffened, the flicker of something unreadable in his gaze.

“What about him?” he asked, his tone carefully neutral.

I turned slightly to face him, resting one elbow on the counter as I studied him. “You’ve been watching him, haven’t you? Keeping tabs, waiting for the perfect opportunity to strike.”

He didn’t deny it, which was answer enough.

“I can help you,” I said, my voice dropping lower.

Gabriel tilted his head, his eyes narrowing further. “Help me with what, exactly?”

“Send him back to Hell,” I said, leaning closer, my voice barely above a whisper.

The reaction was immediate. Gabriel’s posture shifted, his focus sharpening like a blade. “You would betray your own master?”

“Betray?” I repeated with a bitter laugh. “You call it betrayal; I call it survival. Hell suit him better”

Gabriel’s silence encouraged me to continue.

“He’s out of control,” I said, my voice gaining an edge. “Whatever balance once existed, it’s gone. He’s become… dangerous. Not just to mortals, but to all of us.”

Gabriel studied me for a moment, his gaze unyielding. “And why would you care? You’ve never been one to play the hero.”

“True,” I admitted, shrugging. “But even I have limits, Gabriel. You should know that better than anyone. And right now, Lucifer has something I need him to let go of.”

There was a pause, the weight of my words sinking in. I could see the conflict in Gabriel’s eyes, the cautious curiosity warring with his natural distrust.

“What’s your plan?” he asked finally, his voice measured.

I allowed myself a small, satisfied smile. “Simple. We lure him into a trap. Something he won’t see coming. And when he’s vulnerable, we strike.”

Gabriel frowned, his skepticism evident. “And you think you can get close enough to him to make that happen?”

“I’m his best friend,” I said with a shrug. “He trusts me—at least enough to let his guard down when it matters.”

“And what do you get out of this?”

” Selene” I said without hesitation. “From him, from his chaos, from this endless cycle of destruction he drags her into. I’m done, Gabriel. I need her safe.”

Gabriel considered this, his expression unreadable. Finally, he spoke, his tone cautious. “You’re asking me to trust you, Lucien. That’s not an easy thing to do.”

“I’m not asking for your trust,” I said, leaning forward, my eyes locking onto his. “I’m asking for your cooperation. Whether you like it or not, we have a common wish. You can either work with me or continue to sit back and watch as he remains here.”

He didn’t respond immediately, his gaze dropping to the counter as he weighed my words.

“I’ll need more than just your word,” he said finally.

“Of course,” I said, leaning back with a smirk. “I’ll give you proof. When the time comes, you’ll see for yourself that I’m serious about this.”
