A DEAL WITH THE DEVIL : CHAPTER 161 – 170
His words planted a seed of doubt in my mind. I didn’t want to believe him, but a part of me couldn’t ignore the logic in what he was saying.
“What do you expect me to do?” I asked.
“Leave,” he said simply. “Run while you still can.”
I hesitated. Leaving the mansion seemed like an impossible task, especially with Lucifer’s watchful eyes always on me. But the thought of staying, of being with Lucifer gave me joy, it feels peaceful, too peaceful for me right now.
Maybe leaving will be the right choice.
“How?” I asked.
Gabriel smiled faintly. “I’ll help you.”
The rest of the morning passed in a blur. Gabriel led me through hidden passages I hadn’t known existed, each one winding deeper into the mansion’s labyrinthine structure. He explained little, his focus solely on getting me out.
As we reached what looked like a servant’s exit, he turned to me, his expression serious.
“Once you leave, you can’t come back,” he said. “Do you understand that?”
I nodded, my throat tight.a thought flas through my mind, I can’t leave Lucifer, he will be badly hurt.
“Good,” he said. “Now go. And don’t look back.”
With one last glance at the mansion, I stepped outside, the cool morning air hitting me like a wake-up call.
I didn’t know where I was going or what I would do, but one thing was certain: I couldn’t stay here. Not anymore. I might not want to leave Lucifer but I feel free.
The sun was blinding as I ran, its rays piercing through the trees that seemed to stretch endlessly in every direction.
My breath came in ragged gasps, my legs burning with the strain of each step, but I couldn’t stop.
I didn’t know where I was going. I didn’t even know where I was.
New York, Gabriel had said, but this didn’t look like any part of the city I’d ever seen on TV or in books.
There were no skyscrapers, no bustling streets, not even a single house. Just an endless expanse of trees that loomed over me like silent sentinels.
Something about the trees felt… wrong. Their branches twisted unnaturally, their trunks seemed to lean in as though they were watching me, following my every move.
Shadows danced across the forest floor despite the bright sunlight, and the air felt heavy, almost suffocating.
I didn’t want to be here. I didn’t want to be anywhere but back in the mansion, back where— I shake my head, Lucifer is no good for me, I have always been waiting for a day to leave.
I stumbled, nearly falling as my mind snapped back to the present. No, I told myself. I can’t go back.
But the thought of leaving Lucifer, of never seeing him again, sent a pang of something sharp and unbearable through my chest.
I didn’t understand it—why I felt so tethered to him, why the idea of staying away felt like tearing apart a piece of myself.
And yet, I couldn’t stop running. No matter how hard I tried
Gabriel’s touch still lingered on my arm, cold and firm, as if he’d left more than just a word behind. It was like his touch had planted something inside me—a spell, a command I couldn’t disobey. I have to keep running, a spell just like that.
