A DEAL WITH THE DEVIL : CHAPTER 171 – 180

Lucien smirked, his sharp features softening slightly. “Only when I’m babysitting someone who’s more trouble than she’s worth.”

I rolled my eyes but couldn’t help the small laugh that escaped me. “You’re such a charmer, you know that?”

“Comes naturally,” he replied, flashing me a grin that was equal parts cocky and disarming.

I shook my head, a small smile tugging at my lips despite myself. “You’re acting strange, does cigarettes high someone?”

“naturally.” He flicked the ash from his cigarette, his gaze drifting back to me. “You should probably get used to me, though. We’re going to be spending a lot of time together.”

The way he said it—low, almost teasing—sent an unexpected shiver down my spine. “Lucky me,” I muttered, trying to play it off.

“Careful,” he said, his voice dropping slightly. “I might think you’re starting to like me.”

I laughed, the sound lighter than I’d felt in days. “I don’t think you’d know what to do if someone actually liked you.” how can he turn from angry to flirty in just few minutes?

Lucien’s smirk widened, and he took a step closer, his dark eyes glinting with something I couldn’t quite place. “You’d be surprised, Selene.”

For a moment, I wasn’t sure if he was joking or not. There was something in his gaze—something playful but also…intense. I looked away, suddenly feeling self-conscious under his scrutiny.

“You’re doing it again,” he said, his voice softer now.

“Doing what?”

“Overthinking,” he replied simply.

I turned back to him, narrowing my eyes. “Maybe that’s because I have a lot to think about, and why Lucifer is not here, why will he send you to me?”

Lucien tilted his head, studying me like I was some kind of puzzle he was trying to solve. “You make things harder for yourself, you know that? Thinking of another man when am here”

“Gee, thanks for the insight, Dr. Phil.” I frown ” Lucifer is not another man tho”

” How sure are you? Do you love him?”

” What are you now?” I furrow my brows ” my therapist?”

He laughed, a genuine, deep laugh that made something in my chest tighten. It wasn’t often that I saw this side of him—relaxed, almost kind. It made me feel like maybe, just maybe, he wasn’t as bad as I’d thought.

Before I could stop myself, I chuckled too, the sound easing the tension that had been coiling inside me all day. For a brief moment, it felt like we weren’t two people thrust into an impossible situation, except he found me…. I just found it suspicious that he knew exactly when to show up.

The moment of laughter didn’t last.

Lucien’s hand moved before I even realized what was happening, his fingers brushing a stray strand of hair from my face. The touch was light, almost hesitant, but it sent a jolt of electricity through me.

I froze, my breath catching in my throat. I have no idea why am feeling this way, is it done sort of magic

Only Lucifer make me doubt my sanity.

“What are you doing?” I managed to whisper, though my voice sounded weaker than I’d intended. What the hell?0

His lips curled into a small, almost wicked smile. “Something I shouldn’t.”

And then he pulled me closer, his hand sliding to the small of my back.

I didn’t resist. I wasn’t even sure I *wanted* to resist.

His other hand came up to cup my face, tilting it slightly as his lips found mine. The kiss was slow at first, almost testing, but it deepened quickly, a rush of heat and intensity that stole the air from my lungs.
