A DEAL WITH THE DEVIL : CHAPTER 181 – 190

LUCIFERS DESIRES

SELENE SMILED.

I woke the next morning with a fierce determination pulsing through my veins. The sunlight filtered through the curtains, casting a warm glow across my room.

I took a deep breath, steadying myself as I swung my legs over the side of the bed. Today was the day I would face Lucifer again, and I needed to be ready.

I made my way to the bathroom, the cool tiles sending a shiver up my spine. As the hot water cascaded over me in the shower, I let the steam envelop me, washing away the remnants of last night’s chaos.

I focused on the sensation of the water, the way it invigorated me, clearing my mind. I took my time, allowing the heat to soothe my tense muscles, feeling the weight of my emotions slowly fade.

After I stepped out, I wrapped a towel around myself and glanced in the mirror. My hair was damp and tousled, but I knew I could work with it.

I grabbed my hairdryer and set to work, carefully styling my hair into soft waves that framed my face. I wanted to look good, to feel confident.

Once I was satisfied with my hair, I turned my attention to my outfit. I rummaged through my closet, finally settling on a striking red dress.

The fabric felt soft against my skin as I slipped it on. I admired myself in the mirror, noting how the color made my blue eyes pop. Today, I was going to show Lucifer that I was strong, unbroken, and ready to face whatever came my way.

With one last look, I hurried downstairs. The mansion felt quieter than usual, the kind of silence that wrapped around you like a shroud.

As I entered the dining, I found him there—Lucifer, seated at the table, a plate of breakfast in front of him. He wore his usual black suit, tailored to perfection, and the sight of him made my heart race.

Mirabel was standing in the corner, her watchful eyes fixed on Lucifer, as always. I tried to ignore her presence, focusing instead on the man who commanded my attention.

I pulled out a chair across from him and sat down, the chair creaking slightly under my weight.

“Good morning,” I said, my voice steady as I attempted to break the silence.

He looked up briefly, his expression unreadable, and then returned to his food. “Hmmm.”

I felt a pang of disappointment but pressed on. “What are you having?”

“Eggs,” he replied curtly, not lifting his gaze.

I fidgeted in my seat, trying to gauge his mood. “They look good. Did you make them yourself?”

“Mirabel did,” he answered, finally looking at me. His eyes were like dark pools, swirling with emotions I couldn’t quite decipher.

“Right,” I said, forcing a smile. “She always makes the best breakfast.”

He nodded, taking a sip of his coffee. The tension in the air was palpable, and I could feel my heart pounding in my chest. I wanted to say more, to fill the silence, but each word seemed to catch in my throat.

“How did you sleep?” I asked, trying to keep the conversation flowing.

“Fine,” he replied flatly, his focus back on his plate.

Minutes passed in silence, the only sounds being the clinking of silverware and the soft hum of the coffee machine. I watched him, noting the way he methodically cut his eggs, the way his jaw tightened with every bite. He seemed so distant, so lost in his own world.

“Are you going anywhere today?” I ventured, hoping to spark some interest.

“Maybe,” he said, without elaboration.

“What about that meeting with the other demons?” I pressed, desperate for him to engage. That was just a lucky guess, and with his reply, I guess I was right…. They is a meeting.

“It’s not your concern,” he said, his tone sharper now.
